Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior Java/JEE developer to own module design and drive architectural alignment in a fintech context.

You will work across ISO 20022, SWIFT, SEPA and payment flows, ensuring secure data handling and robust CI/CD processes with a focus on high availability.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of Java/JEE development experience with Core Java, Java EE 8+ capabilities, multithreading, memory management and tuning.
• Strong Spring ecosystem skills (Spring Boot, Data, Security) and messaging systems in secure HA environments.
• Hands-on with relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle, DB2) and NoSQL (MongoDB) databases; TLS/SSL and secure data flows.
• Experience with containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tools; banking/fintech exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of module design and solutioning within sprints; participate in requirement gathering with product teams.
• Drive technical design sessions and peer reviews; ensure alignment with architectural standards.
• Deliver robust, secure solutions aligned with ISO 20022, SWIFT, SEPA, and other payment formats.
• Ensure code quality via reviews, static analysis, and test-driven development; collaborate with QA/DevOps for CI/CD.

Job description

• Participate in requirement-gathering sessions with product teams and assess the technical feasibility of features and integrations.
• Take ownership of design and solutioning for modules assigned within a sprint.
• Drive technical design sessions and peer reviews to ensure alignment with architectural standards.
• Deliver robust and secure solutions aligned with ISO 20022, SWIFT, SEPA, and other payment formats.
• Ensure code quality through code reviews, static analysis tools, and adherence to test-driven development.
• Work closely with QA and DevOps to ensure smooth CI/CD and release processes.
• Investigate production issues and perform RCA for defects and escalations.
• Continuously improve the system through innovation, refactoring, and adoption of emerging technologies.

Requirements

• 5-8 years of experience in Java/JEE development with expertise in Core Java, Java EE (8+), multithreading, memory management, and performance tuning.
• Strong proficiency in Spring ecosystem (Spring Boot, Data, Security) and messaging systems (IBM MQ, RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka) in secure, HA environments.
• Hands-on experience with relational (PostgreSQL, Oracle, DB2) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB), plus SSL/TLS and secure data flows.
• Skilled in containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions), and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace).
• Deep understanding of financial messaging standards (ISO 20022, SWIFT, MT/MX messages, SEPA, NACHA) and payment flows (RTGS, real-time, cross-border), with compliance and security expertise.
• Proven experience in banking/fintech implementations, including reconciliation, settlement, and reference data management.
