Job summary

Genesys seeks a Senior Software Engineer in Test to design and implement test strategies for the Genesys Cloud Platform. You will lead testing in a cross-functional team with PMs, Devs, UX and Docs, and apply GenAI-powered tools to accelerate quality.

This role balances manual, automated, accessibility, security, and AI-augmented testing to elevate coverage and efficiency across features. Chennai (Flexible) with hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software testing or data engineering for large-scale systems.
• Experience with Java, Jenkins, Selenium/Playwright, TestNG/JUnit, REST APIs, Git, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Familiarity with observability tools (Sumo Logic, New Relic, etc.).
• Strong technical and communication skills to collaborate across global teams.
• Ability to evaluate risks, guide design trade-offs, and implement robust automation frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Review designs and architectures, applying AI-assisted risk analysis to anticipate gaps.

Summary:

As a Senior Software Engineer in Test, you will design and implement test strategies for new features on the Genesys Cloud Platform. You’ll lead testing in a cross-functional team with Product Management, Development, UX, and Documentation. Beyond ensuring quality across functionality, security, performance, and usability, you will leverage GenAI-powered tools to accelerate test design, defect analysis, and exploratory validation. Your impact will be measured not just in finding defects, but in raising the team’s productivity, decision-making, and long-term velocity through AI-driven quality practices.

This is not just executing tests or maintaining pipelines. It isn’t a narrow automation role. It is a holistic quality engineering role that balances manual, automated, accessibility, security, scalability, and AI-augmented testing to elevate both coverage and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):

Minimum Requirements:

• 5+ years in software testing or data engineering for large-scale systems.
• Experience with Java (or similar), Jenkins, Selenium/Playwright, TestNG/JUnit, REST APIs, Git, and cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Familiarity with observability tools (Sumo Logic, New Relic, etc.).
• Strong technical and communication skills to collaborate across global teams.
• Ability to evaluate risks, guide design trade-offs, and implement robust automation frameworks.
• A mindset of mentorship and continuous learning, helping the team reframe AI not as a replacement but as an amplifier of productivity and creativity.

Desirable Skills:

• Practical experience with AI tools for testing, debugging, or quality analysis.
• Proficient in leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code) to accelerate coding, debugging, and code review, while maintaining strong judgment and accountability.
• Experience introducing AI tools into workflows—for example, using LLMs to generate test cases from requirements, debug failed builds faster, or explore alternative test strategies.
