Job summary

Verdantas is seeking a Senior ServiceNow SAM Analyst/Administrator in Pune to manage software licensing, compliance, renewals, and optimization within ServiceNow. You will drive cost savings and governance across entitlements, datasets, and license metrics.

You will build dashboards, support audits, and partner with Procurement, Finance, and IT teams to ensure accurate license positions, actionable reporting, and continuous improvement of the SAM program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, business, finance, or related field.
• 8–10 years in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, or related areas.
• Hands-on with ServiceNow SAM (SAM Pro preferred).
• Experience managing entitlements, allocations, usage, reconciliation, reclamation, renewals, and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of software licensing, subscription models, and major publisher programs.
• Experience with reporting, dashboards, data analysis, and optimization initiatives.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow ITAM/HAM/ITSM, CMDB, Discovery; Excel/Power BI.
• ServiceNow, ITIL, SAM, or ITAM certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain ServiceNow SAM entitlement records, license metrics, contracts, and documentation.
• Validate imported data, resolve data-quality issues, and maintain relationships among models, entitlements, installations, users, devices, contracts, and allocations.
• Coordinate discovery, normalization, reconciliation, and integration with platform, endpoint, procurement, and application teams.
• Investigate reconciliation exceptions and data issues impacting license positions and reporting.
• Analyze usage and license consumption to identify unused or over-licensed products.
• Build business cases for license recovery, reallocation, and renewal right-sizing.
• Track savings, cost avoidance, and other benefits of the SAM program.
• Design, configure, test, and monitor reclamation rules and workflows.
• Provide actionable reporting to technology leaders and business stakeholders.
• Support renewals with entitlement comparisons and contract terms review.

We at Verdantas, looking for a Senior ServiceNow SAM Analyst/Administrator to manage software licensing, compliance, renewals, optimization, and reporting in ServiceNow, driving cost savings and effective software governance.

Key Responsibilities:

ServiceNow SAM Administration and Data Management

• Manage and maintain software entitlement records in ServiceNow SAM, including entitlement uploads, license metrics, publisher data, contracts, maintenance terms, purchase details, and supporting documentation.
• Validate imported data, resolve data-quality issues, and maintain accurate relationships among software models, entitlements, installations, users, devices, contracts, and allocations.
• Coordinate software discovery, normalization, reconciliation, and integration activities with platform, endpoint, infrastructure, procurement, and application teams.
• Investigate reconciliation exceptions, incomplete records, duplicate data, and other issues that affect the reliability of license positions and reporting.

Software Usage and Investment Optimization

• Analyze software usage, assignments, installations, and license consumption to identify unused, underused, duplicated, or over-licensed products.
• Build business cases and recommendations for license recovery, reallocation, subscription downgrades, contract consolidation, and renewal right-sizing.
• Prioritize optimization opportunities based on financial impact, feasibility, business risk, contractual constraints, and user need.
• Track realized savings, cost avoidance, recovered licenses, redeployment value, and other benefits that demonstrate the return on the SAM program and ServiceNow SAM investment.

Reclamation and Lifecycle Processes

• Design, configure, test, and monitor software reclamation rules and workflows based on approved usage thresholds and business requirements.
• Coordinate user notifications, manager or application-owner approvals, uninstall activities, license recovery, reallocation, and exception handling.
• Establish repeatable processes for software request, approval, fulfillment, allocation, harvesting, renewal, and retirement.
• Review reclamation results and tune rules to improve recovery rates while minimizing disruption to users and business operations.

Reporting, Analytics, and Governance

• Create and maintain dashboards, scheduled reports, and KPIs covering software spend, utilization, compliance, renewal exposure, reclamation, savings, data quality, and process performance.
• Provide clear, actionable reporting to technology leaders, Procurement, Finance, application owners, and business stakeholders.
• Develop SAM standards, procedures, controls, documentation, and ownership models that support consistent execution and audit readiness.
• Monitor SAM performance, identify process gaps, and maintain a prioritized improvement roadmap.

Renewals, Compliance, and Stakeholder Partnership

• Support software renewals by comparing entitlements, allocations, usage, growth trends, business demand, and contract terms before purchase commitments are made.
• Perform effective license position reviews and support internal compliance assessments, publisher reviews, and software-audit response activities.
• Partner with Procurement and Finance to improve visibility into software commitments, spend, renewal timing, and optimization opportunities.
• Work with application owners and business leaders to validate demand, address exceptions, and implement approved optimization actions.
• Communicate findings in practical business terms, including financial impact, operational considerations, risk, and recommended next steps.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business, finance, supply chain, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8-10 years of experience in Software Asset Management, IT Asset Management, Software Licensing, Procurement, or related fields.
• Hands-on experience with ServiceNow SAM (SAM Professional preferred).
• Experience managing software entitlements, allocations, usage, reconciliation, reclamation, renewals, and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of software licensing, subscription models, and major publisher licensing programs.
• Experience with reporting, dashboards, data analysis, and optimization initiatives.
• Familiarity with ServiceNow ITAM/HAM/ITSM, CMDB, Discovery, and vendor audit support. Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or similar analytics tools.
