Job Description

The Senior Resident – Anesthesia provides anaesthesia and perioperative services under the supervision of attending consultants. The participates in pre-operative assessment, anaesthesia administration, intra-operative monitoring, post-operative care, airway management, and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct pre-operative anaesthesia assessments.
• Review medical history, investigations, medications, allergies, and anaesthetic risks.
• Assist in developing appropriate anaesthesia plans.
• Administer and monitor anaesthesia within approved clinical privileges.
• Monitor airway, ventilation, haemodynamic status, and other physiological parameters.
• Assist consultants during high-risk or complex surgical procedures.
• Provide airway management and respiratory support as appropriately trained.
• Respond to anaesthesia-related emergencies and assist with resuscitation.
• Provide post-operative monitoring and pain-management support.
• Coordinate with surgeons, intensivists, nurses, and other clinical teams.
• Ensure safe use and readiness of anaesthesia machines, monitors, medications, and emergency equipment.
• Maintain accurate anaesthesia records and clinical documentation.
• Participate in perioperative rounds, audits, teaching, emergency drills, and quality-improvement activities.
• Follow infection-control, medication-safety, and patient-safety protocols.
