Job summary

Nisum is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to lead architecture design for large-scale enterprise applications across retail, eCommerce, and supply chain domains. You will own high- and low-level designs, drive platform modernization, and guide cross-functional teams.

You should have a strong Java ecosystem background, deep cloud experience (AWS preferred), and a proven record of implementing scalable, secure, and observable systems with robust documentation and stakeholder alignment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in solutioning; 8+ years in microservices architecture; total experience 12–15 years.

Responsibilities

• Architecture: Solution architecture, HLD/LLD, enterprise application design, design patterns, architecture reviews, and technical documentation.
• Retail Domain: Experience with retail platforms and business processes, preferably across eCommerce, order management, inventory, fulfillment, store operations, or supply chain.
• Java Ecosystem: Core Java, JEE, Spring Framework, Spring Boot, microservices, RESTful APIs, Hibernate, and JPA.
• Integration: API-led architecture, REST/SOAP web services, messaging (Kafka), middleware, event-driven architecture, and distributed systems.
• Cloud: Hands-on AWS experience preferred; Azure or another major cloud platform is acceptable.
• Databases: Enterprise relational databases and No SQL databases, data modeling, and ORM technologies.
• Engineering Practices: CI/CD, automated testing, test-driven development, continuous delivery, code reviews, and production troubleshooting.
• AI-Assisted Development: Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent tools.
• Security & Reliability: Authentication, authorization, application security, high availability, scalability, observability, and resilience.
• Significant experience in software engineering and solution architecture, including designing and supporting medium- to large-scale, mission-critical enterprise applications.
• Demonstrated experience designing highly scalable, cloud-based applications and integrating heterogeneous enterprise platforms.
• Strong hands-on development background, with the ability to contribute directly to critical components and technical POCs.
• Proven ability to analyze existing implementations and recommend architectural and performance optimizations.
• Experienced with strong documentation skills to present the solutions with stakeholders
• Excellent verbal and written communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills.

Preferred candidate profile

• Must Relevant experience should be at least 5+ years in solutioning, 8+ years of working experience with micro services architecture and total experience should be between 12 to 15 years
• Create high level and low level designs for the problem statement provided
• Provide hands-on technical leadership for critical components, proof of concepts (POCs), framework evaluations, and complex implementation challenges.
• Perform technical due diligence, review code and implementation approaches, and guide engineering teams on architectural best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and competing platforms through technical assessments and POCs, recommending suitable adoption strategies
• Lead modernization initiatives involving legacy application transformation, microservices adoption, API management, and cloud migration.
• Evaluate existing implementations to identify performance bottlenecks, architectural gaps, and opportunities for optimization.
• Recommend improvements to application performance, infrastructure utilization, reliability, and long-term total cost of ownership.
• Drive test-driven development, automated integration testing, and quality-focused engineering practices.
• Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure architecture decisions translate into implementable designs and successful releases.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, product owners, engineering leaders, enterprise architects, and client architecture teams.
• Communicate architectural decisions, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrate strong influencing, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and technical leads.
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment using Agile and Scrum principles.
