Job summary

Hill-International, Inc. seeks an experienced cost estimator for building projects across residential, commercial, hotel and industrial sectors.

You will perform quantity take-offs for electrical, fire fighting, plumbing and HVAC, using standards and tools like Cost-X and AutoCAD. You will draft and validate BOQs, support cost estimation, tendering, and cost control activities throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 10-12 years’ experience with building projects

Responsibilities

• Undertake quantity take-offs for Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, HVAC works using applicable standards.
• Use Cost X, AutoCAD for quantity take-off and summarize quantities, transfer data into BOQs or cost plans.
• Draft or Validate Bills of Quantities including bulk checks.
• Support cost estimation activities by identifying basic material and labour rates.
• Understand tendering processes and documentation.
• Prepare interim payment recommendations and maintain cost control documentation.
• Contribute to cost reporting, cashflow forecasting, and valuation of variations.
• Apply working knowledge of construction technologies in cost planning tasks.
• Assess cost implications of materials, labour and methods during design and execution.
• Proficiency in CAD, Cost-X and other quantification/estimation software.
• Strong MS Excel/Word skills and adaptability to customized software.

Undertake quantity works for Building projects - Residential, Commercial, Hotel, Hospital, Fitout, Industry / warehouse (depending on project requirement).

Responsibilities

• Undertake quantity take-offs for Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, HVAC works using applicable standards.
• Use software tools (e.g., Cost X, AutoCAD) for quantity take-off and summarize quantities, transfer data into BOQs or cost plans including carrying out bulk checks.
• Draft or Validate Bills of Quantities including carrying out bulk checks.
• Support cost estimation activities by identifying basic material and labour rates and understanding rate analysis for standard work items.
• Having basic understanding on tendering process and documentation.
• Prepare interim payment recommendations, maintain cost control documentation, and manage change control processes.
• Contribute to cost reporting, cashflow forecasting, valuation of variations, tracking of risk allowances, and preparation of final accounts.
• Apply working knowledge of construction technologies and methods in cost planning tasks.
• Assess cost implications of materials, labour and construction methods during design and execution stages.
• Should be good in CAD, Cost-X (qty take off tools) and other quantification / estimation software.
• Good skills on MS excel and word and ability to learn and adapt to customized software.
