Job summary

Hill International, Inc. seeks a cost estimator to perform quantity take-offs for Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing and HVAC on building projects. You will use AutoCAD and Cost-X to prepare Bills of Quantities and support cost planning and tendering.

The role involves data transfer to cost plans, interim payments, cost control and final accounts, with strong Excel/Word skills and a hands-on approach to construction methods.

Qualifications

• Experience in quantity take-offs for Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, HVAC.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Cost-X for quantity take-off.
• Familiarity with tendering, cost planning, and interim payments.

Responsibilities

• Undertake quantity take-offs for Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, HVAC.
• Use Cost X and AutoCAD for quantity take-off and summarize quantities.
• Draft or Validate Bills of Quantities including bulk checks.
• Support cost estimation activities by identifying basic material and labour rates.
• Understand tendering process and documentation.
• Prepare interim payment recommendations and maintain cost control documentation.
• Contribute to cost reporting, cashflow forecasting, valuation of variations, and final accounts.
• Apply working knowledge of construction technologies and methods in cost planning tasks.
• Assess cost implications of materials, labour and construction methods during design and execution stages.
• Should be good in CAD, Cost-X (qty take off tools) and other quantification / estimation software.
• Good skills on MS excel and word and ability to learn and adapt to customized software

Undertake quantity works for Building projects - Residential, Commercial, Hotel, Hospital, Fitout, Industry / warehouse (depending on project requirement)

Responsibilities

• Undertake quantity take-offs for Electrical, Fire Fighting, Plumbing, HVAC works using applicable standards.
• Use software tools (e.g., Cost X, AutoCAD) for quantity take-off and summarize quantities, transfer data into BOQs or cost plans including carrying out bulk checks.
• Draft or Validate Bills of Quantities including carrying out bulk checks.
• Support cost estimation activities by identifying basic material and labour rates and understanding rate analysis for standard work items.
• Having basic understanding on tendering process and documentation
• Prepare interim payment recommendations, maintain cost control documentation, and manage change control processes.
• Contribute to cost reporting, cashflow forecasting, valuation of variations, tracking of risk allowances, and preparation of final accounts.
• Apply working knowledge of construction technologies and methods in cost planning tasks.
• Assess cost implications of materials, labour and construction methods during design and execution stages.
• Should be good in CAD, Cost-X (qty take off tools) and other quantification / estimation software.
