Job summary

Unilever in India is seeking a Senior Quality Executive for Home Care India to strengthen quality governance and consumer safety across Liquid CM sites and contract manufacturing. You will partner with R&D, Factory QA, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain to ensure robust quality systems and timely CAPA closure.

The role covers QA governance, PCP/DN, depot freeze governance, audit readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives across Home Care factories and CM sites, with a focus on Liquid

Qualifications

  • University degree in a technical discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Home Care Quality, Factory Quality, CQA, Contract Manufacturing Quality, or Supply Chain Quality.
  • Strong understanding of QMS, GMP, UQP, audit management, CAPA, RCA, deviation management, HACCP, CCP monitoring, inspection plans, SAP quality processes, PCP, DN, depot freeze governance, and product/packaging quality controls.
  • Ability to analyse quality data, complaints, incidents, audit gaps, marketplace trends, Liquid CM performance and QIP progress to identify risks and drive preventive actions.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with Legal, BP, CEC, factory teams, suppliers, and authorities for counterfeit cases, consumer complaints, product quality concerns, and regulatory matters.
  • Conduct monthly CM quality meetings and complaint reviews, analyze trends, and convert insights into action plans with clear owners and timelines.
  • Plan, conduct, upload, and track audits as per schedule; monitor Quality One/QLI records, audit lifecycle status, CAPA progress, and closure effectiveness.
  • Maintain trackers, dashboards, summaries, and review updates for leadership visibility and timely decision-making.

Purpose

To support delivery of unmissable brand superiority by strengthening quality governance, consumer safety, compliance, and continuous improvement across Home Care India factories and Liquid contract manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for driving end-to-end Quality governance for Home Care India, with primary focus on Liquid CM sites and quality-related initiatives, covering consumer safety, product quality, quality risk mitigation, compliance, and continuous improvement across factories and contract manufacturing sites. The role partners closely with Factory QA, CQA, R&D, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, CEC, and external partners to ensure robust quality systems, timely closure of audit gaps, effective incident management, and first-time-right execution of changes and innovations.

Quality Strategy and Standards
  • Execute the Home Care India quality strategy through strong governance of QMS, GMP, UQP, audit compliance, deviation management, and quality risk controls.
  • Lead implementation of QMS changes and ensure timely communication, adoption, and compliance across factories and contract manufacturing sites, especially Liquid CMs.
  • Monitor internal audit status, Quality One/QLI records, lifecycle status, CAPA progress, and gap-closure timelines; escalated delays and seek clarification where closure is not progressing as planned.
  • Provide technical guidance on quality standards, PCP, DN, depot freeze, inspection plans, shelf-life extension, revalidation, and documentation requirements to support compliant decision-making.
Quality in Innovation
  • Partner with SUIT, R&D, Factory QA, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams on change management, risk assessment, PCP sign-off, FTR protocols, and post-launch monitoring, with exposure to North Star site readiness and upcoming technologies in the growing Liquid business.
  • Ensure innovations, formulation changes, packaging changes, and reactivation projects are assessed for quality risk before commercial production.
  • Leverage consumer and marketplace insights from DVOC, CEC complaints, depot/retail CRQS, and complaint analysis to identify recurring themes and convert them into corrective and preventive actions.
Quality in Engineering and Technology
  • Provide Quality input into engineering, technology, outsourcing, reactivation, and new CM onboarding projects, including infrastructure, equipment, utilities, water systems, lab capability, hygienic design, process controls, and Liquid-specific manufacturing controls.
  • Support governance of critical quality requirements, CTQs, CCPs, SPC, AOQL, inspection plans, SAP quality master data, and digital quality systems.
  • Drive replication of proven technical solutions across sites, including low-cost sensor controls, packaging defect prevention actions, digital quality monitoring improvements, and new technology learnings from Liquid and North Star projects.
Continuous Quality Improvement
  • Lead continuous improvement through structured RCA, CAPA, incident trend analysis, complaint analysis, MQI loss review, quality performance tracking, and QIPs to improve overall Liquid quality across factory, depot, and retail channels.
  • Coordinate closure of quality incidents, including packaging defects, MRP/date-code mismatch, Liquid pouch, bottle, cap, leakage, CLD and depot freeze issues, expired or mixed stock, microbiological risks, and supplier-related issues.
  • Prepare action trackers, executive summaries, one-page updates, review decks, and leadership talking points to support timely decision-making and governance reviews.
  • Capture lessons learned from incidents, audits, and complaints, and coordinate replication of preventive actions across relevant Home Care sites.
Stakeholder Management and Key Interfaces
  • Represent Quality in cross-functional forums with CQA, Factory QA, R&D, Procurement, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Microbiology, CEC, Legal, BP, and regional/global Quality stakeholders.
  • Engage factories and contract manufacturing partners, including Liquid CM sites, to drive audit readiness, timely CAPA closure, quality compliance, incident response, and implementation of standard work processes.
  • Collaborate with external suppliers, third-party manufacturers, government authorities, and internal support teams to resolve quality system, inspection plan, and compliance issues.
Skills And Experience
  • University degree in a technical discipline such as Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Packaging, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Home Care Quality, Factory Quality, CQA, Contract Manufacturing Quality, or Supply Chain Quality, preferably with exposure to Liquid operations or CM governance.
  • Strong understanding of QMS, GMP, UQP, audit management, CAPA, RCA, deviation management, HACCP, CCP monitoring, inspection plans, SAP quality processes, PCP, DN, depot freeze governance, and product/packaging quality controls.
  • Ability to analyse quality data, complaints, incidents, audit gaps, marketplace trends, Liquid CM performance and QIP progress to identify risks and drive preventive actions.
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, escalation, and project management skills, with the ability to work effectively across factories, CMs, functions, and leadership teams.
  • Future-fit digital mindset with experience or interest in quality dashboards, digital quality systems, automation, and structured performance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with Legal, BP, CEC, factory teams, suppliers, and authorities, where required, for counterfeit cases, consumer complaints, product quality concerns, and regulatory or compliance matters.
  • Conduct monthly CM quality meeting and complaint review meetings, analyse complaint trends, and convert insights into action plans with clear owners and timelines.Ensure PCP sign-off availability, DN readiness, depot freeze governance, risk assessment completion, HACCP review, CCP compliance, and quality readiness before first commercial production or restart after extended production gaps.
  • Plan, conduct, upload, and track audits as per schedule; monitor Quality One/QLI records, audit lifecycle status, CAPA progress, and closure effectiveness.
  • Create and track PQS/early PQS for relevant brands and products, monitor D-incidents, drive DA closure, and propose Liquid-focused QIPs based on recurring issues.
  • Support CM onboarding, CM reactivation, BRC/USQS compliance, audit planning, scorecard tracking, qualification of new or expanded manufacturing sites, and readiness for the new North Star site and upcoming Liquid technologies.
  • Maintain structured trackers, dashboards, summaries, and review updates to provide leadership visibility and enable timely decision-making.
