Job summary

Kan Biosys in India seeks an experienced Purchase/Procurement professional to independently manage end-to-end procurement for assigned categories, focusing on packaging and chemical materials.

You will negotiate with vendors, analyze quotations, prepare MIS and dashboards, monitor POs, ensure timely deliveries, and collaborate with Production, Quality, and Finance to drive cost savings and value. Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA and MS Excel is preferred. 4+ years of experience encouraged.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant Purchase/Procurement experience, preferably in packaging and chemical materials.
• Experience in vendor selection, negotiations, and rate-contracts.
• Knowledge of P2P cycle from PR to PO, goods receipt, and payments.
• Proficiency in SAP S/4HANA, MS Excel, MIS reporting and dashboards.

Responsibilities

• Handle daily purchase activities and independent procurement for assigned categories.
• Identify, evaluate and develop vendors; monitor performance and negotiate rates.
• Prepare comparative statements, purchase proposals and MIS reports.
• Monitor price trends, costs, and opportunities for savings.
• Support strategic sourcing and alternate vendor development.
• Coordinate with Production, Stores, Quality, Finance and Maintenance.
• Ensure timely delivery by managing open/overdue POs and documentation.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Handling daily purchase activities and procurement requirements independently.
• Good knowledge of chemical and packaging materials and their applications.
• Vendor identification, evaluation, development, and performance monitoring, vendor negotiation, comparison, and commercial finalization.
• Preparing comparative statements, purchase proposals, and Purchase MIS.
• Monitoring price trends, market conditions, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Supporting strategic sourcing and alternate vendor development.
• Good understanding of the complete P2P cycle, from PR creation to PO, material receipt, invoice processing, and payment coordination.
• Maintaining purchase records, vendor data, quotations, contracts, and other procurement documentation.
• Monitoring pending/open POs and ensuring timely material deliveries.
• Dept. Coordinating with Production, Stores, Quality, Finance, Maintenance, and other user departments.
• Handling urgent requirements and ensuring timely availability of critical materials.
• Supporting cost-reduction initiatives through negotiation, alternate sourcing, and value analysis.
• Develop and implement category-wise sourcing strategies.
• Handle vendor negotiations and annual rate contracts helps for cost savings and cost-avoidance initiatives.
• Analyze market/price trends and recommend appropriate buying strategies.
• Manage supplier performance, delivery issues, quality concerns, and commercial disputes.
• Review and control open/overdue POs and procurement commitments.
• Independently manage end-to-end procurement activities for assigned categories
• Prepare and present MIS, procurement dashboards, savings reports, and management reports.
• Good knowledge of SAP S/4HANA, MS Excel, and AI tools for procurement and reporting activities.
• The ideal candidate should be responsible, proactive, result-oriented, and capable of handling procurement activities independently, with good commercial understanding and the ability to work under pressure.

Preferred candidate profile

• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Purchase/Procurement, preferably in packaging and chemical materials.
• Candidates from Agrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, Fertilizer, Manufacturing, or similar industries will be preferred.
• Candidates with higher experience may be considered for a Purchase Executive / Sr. purchase position, depending on their overall procurement exposure and capabilities.

Educational Required:

• Any Graduate/Post Graduate with relevant Purchase/Procurement experience.
• Preference may be given to candidates with M. Com, MBA Engineering Diploma/Degree in Packaging, Chemical or related qualifications.
