Job summary

Ideal Consultants in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, invites a Senior Microbiologist – R&D to lead microbial product development for agricultural biologicals. The role spans strain/culture development, fermentation, and formulation development, with technology transfer to commercial production.

The candidate will guide project teams, optimize formulations (OD/SL/SC), and drive scale-up and process improvements across R&D and manufacturing functions.

Qualifications

• M.S./M.Tech./Ph.D. in Microbiology, Industrial Microbiology or Biotechnology.
• Around 15 years of relevant experience, preferably in an Agri-Biological / Bio-Inputs organization.
• Hands-on experience in OD, SL and SC formulation development.
• Experience with fermenters and SSF/SMF/SCF processes.
• Exposure to process optimization, scale-up and commercialization of microbial products.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and R&D documentation capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead R&D and development of microbial / agri-biological products.
• Develop and optimize OD, SL and SC formulations.
• Handle fermentation processes and fermenters from lab to commercial scale.
• Work with SSF, SMF, SCF fermentation technologies.
• Develop culture, media and fermentation parameters; improve yield and stability.
• Lead scale-up and technology transfer to production; troubleshoot issues.
• Conduct product stability, efficacy and quality studies.
• Prepare SOPs, protocols and technical reports; coordinate with QA/QC, Regulatory and Product Development.
• Mentor junior R&D/Microbiology team members.

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Microbiologist – R&D with strong expertise in microbial product development, fermentation and formulation development for agricultural biological products.

The incumbent will lead R&D activities from strain/culture development and fermentation through formulation development, process optimization, scale‑up and technology transfer to commercial production.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead R&D and development of microbial / agri-biological products.
• Develop and optimize OD, SL and SC formulations.
• Handle fermentation processes and fermenters from laboratory/pilot to commercial scale.

• Lead process scale‑up and technology transfer from R&D to production.

Candidate Profile
