Job summary

Tetra Pak is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to develop and deliver industrial plant layout solutions for powder processing projects in Pune. You will provide mechanical engineering expertise to ensure efficient, compliant layouts aligned with customer and project requirements.

The role is permanently based in Chakan, Pune with ~10% travel, offering opportunities for technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement within a global engineering team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 8–12 years of experience in mechanical design engineering and industrial plant layout in the food/process industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, plant engineering, and layout integration.
• Experience with Autodesk tools, including Inventor and AutoCAD; knowledge of additional engineering and project tools is an advantage.
• Understanding of food safety requirements, hygienic design principles, and risk assessment methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently in an international and multicultural environment while maintaining a strong team-oriented approach.
• Strong English communication skills for daily collaboration in an international environment.
• French is considered a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• Define layout solutions based on process, equipment, piping, structural, safety, and operational requirements.
• Coordinate layout reviews and support technical validation activities with internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify design improvements, technical risks, and project deviations, and propose appropriate solutions.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, engineering procedures, hygienic design principles, and food safety requirements.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, automation, project management, sourcing, and site execution.
• Support customer discussions, installation activities, and technical issue resolution when required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the development of junior engineers through coaching and knowledge sharing.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Chakan, Pune within Tetra Pak Processing Equipment SAS with 10% of potential traveling.
