Job summary

Indalc Spirits Private Limited in Odisha seeks an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical maintenance for our integrated grain-based ENA distillery. You will plan preventive and breakdown maintenance, drive reliability, and coordinate with production, utility, and electrical teams to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of mechanical maintenance experience in distillery or process manufacturing.
• 3+ years in a senior maintenance or leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment and process plant maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical maintenance across all plant sections.
• Plan preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance.
• Ensure maximum equipment availability and minimize downtime.
• Coordinate shutdowns with production and utility teams.
• Monitor equipment performance and implement reliability improvement initiatives.
• Plan spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of critical components.
• Supervise mechanical technicians and contractors during maintenance activities.
• Ensure proper documentation of maintenance history, equipment records, and SOPs.
• Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for major equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory requirements, and maintenance best practices.

Job description

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical maintenance and ensure the reliable operation of our integrated grain-based ENA distillery. The role involves planning and executing preventive and breakdown maintenance, improving equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and coordinating with production, utility, and electrical teams to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.

The position will report directly to the Plant Head and will be responsible for maintaining the mechanical health of all plant equipment while driving continuous improvement, safety, and maintenance excellence.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical maintenance activities across all plant sections:
  • Milling → Liquefaction → Fermentation → Distillation → Evaporation → Dryer → Boiler → Power Plant → WTP → ETP/CPU
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities
• Ensure maximum equipment availability and minimize plant downtime
• Troubleshoot and rectify mechanical failures involving:
  • Pumps, gearboxes, compressors, blowers, agitators, conveyors, centrifuges, decanters, dryers, heat exchangers, valves, pipelines, and rotating equipment
• Coordinate maintenance shutdowns with production and utility teams
• Monitor equipment performance and implement reliability improvement initiatives
• Plan spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of critical components
• Supervise mechanical technicians and contractors during maintenance activities
• Ensure proper documentation of maintenance history, equipment records, and SOPs

Qualifications

Must have

• B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance within a distillery, ethanol, sugar, chemical, or process manufacturing industry
• Minimum 3+ years in a senior maintenance or leadership role
• Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, utility systems, and process plant maintenance
• Experience with preventive maintenance planning, shutdown management, and reliability improvement
