Job summary

ReOrbit is looking for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Architect to join their team in either Helsinki, Finland or Bangalore, India. The successful candidate will lead the full lifecycle of mechanical and thermal activities for critical space data technology projects.

This role demands an experienced engineer with over 10 years in the GEO space industry, possessing strong data analysis skills and hands-on experience with NASTRAN and NX CAD/CAE tools.

Job description

ReOrbit is looking for a Senior Mechanical Architect to join the team at our headquarters in Helsinki, Finland or our office in Bangalore, India. The role involves leading the full end‑to‑end lifecycle of mechanical and thermal activities for space data technology projects.

Responsibilities

• Satellite and launcher requirements analysis
• Physical architecture trade‑off analysis, including primary and secondary structural design based on mission and satellite constraints
• Launch and flight configuration trade‑offs
• Mass budget management (CoG, alignment, moments of inertia) including structural, quasi‑static, and vibration analysis
• Field of view and motion mechanism design and analysis
• Support of AIT design and implementation flow, including GSE design and trade‑off analysis
• Satellite alignment strategy design and implementation
• Collaboration with systems engineering on unit accommodation, trade‑offs, system‑level FMEA, and electrical architecture
• Supply chain technical management and component pre‑selection
• Mechanical, static, and dynamic analysis, including development and maintenance of mathematical models
• Support for feasibility studies and concurrent engineering activities

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
• 10+ years of relevant experience in the GEO space industry
• End‑to‑end knowledge of the lifecycle of space‑related mechanical subsystems
• Strong data analysis capabilities (e.g., scripting or similar tools), with ability to derive insights, manage design documentation, and review/approve design changes
• Experience working closely with external vendors and consortium partners
• FEM capability, with hands‑on expertise in NASTRAN and NX CAD/CAE tools
• Experience in mechanical and/or thermal qualification campaigns within the space domain
• Background in testing and analysis, including model validation, correlation, CLA, and model reduction
• Experience across the full development lifecycle (design trades, CAD design, prototyping, manufacturing, testing, qualification)
• Fluent in written and spoken English
