Job summary

ReOrbit invites applications for a Senior Ground Software Engineer to advance our satellite ground software campaigns for UKKO, SILTA, and future missions. The role emphasizes designing, developing, testing, and maintaining robust ground software systems, with a strong focus on end-to-end lifecycle involvement, requirement analysis, and clear documentation.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, communicating across groups and contributing to proposals, reviews, and bid work packages,

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one OO language (e.g. Java, Python, C++).
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle (requirements, design, implementation, testing, maintenance).
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate clearly.
  • Experience using version control systems in collaborative settings.
  • Ability to translate complex concepts into clear documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test and maintain robust ground software for satellite communications and mission operations.
  • Participate in all stages of the software development process.
  • Analyze requirements and translate into software documentation.
  • Deliver technical documents and estimates for proposals and reviews.
  • Define WBS and work packages for bids.
  • Define test/validation procedures and support design reviews.
  • Provide support across design, development and testing reviews.

ReOrbit is looking for a Senior Ground Software Engineer to join the ReOrbit team and support the software campaigns for our current satellite product lines UKKO, SILTA and future missions. It’s an exciting chance to join a dynamic start-up, with the opportunity to make a real impact, to reach our goal of pushing the boundaries of space data transfer.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test and maintain robust ground software systems for satellite communications, spacecraft database and mission operations
  • Participate in the work of all stages in the software development process
  • Analysis of customer requirements and flow down into the software documentation
  • Deliver technical documents and estimates for proposals and reviews
  • Participate in defining the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and work packages for bids
  • Definition of test / validation procedures
  • Support to reviews at all levels of the design, development and testing
  • Be able to communicate effectively and provide support to Assembly, Integration and Test teams
Skills And Requirements
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience in developing complex software tools
  • Professional proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g. Java, Python, C++, etc.)
  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements definition, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team-based and multidisciplinary environments
  • Professional experience using version control systems in a collaborative development setting
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, well-structured documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to software quality throughout the development process
