Job summary

Luminous Power Technologies is seeking a Senior Manager – Procurement (OPEX) to lead end-to-end operational procurement for a 1.2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Gopalpur, Odisha. The role ensures uninterrupted supply of raw materials, consumables, utilities, spares and services for high-volume manufacturing, with strong techno-commercial and global sourcing exposure.

Qualifications

  • Relevant SCM/ procurement/commercial experience with an operational manufacturing factory.
  • Experience: 10-12 years of relevant post qualification experience. Minimum 5+ years in solar cell/module manufacturing, semiconductor, or high-volume process industry
  • Education: B-Tech Mandatory, MBA/ Diploma in SCM is preferred.
  • Proven experience in a purchasing management role, preferably within an operational manufacturing plant.
  • Contract management and supplier experience.
  • Computer literate, especially Power Point and Excel skills
  • Hand on User Experience on SAP or Equivalent Software
  • Strong exposure to Global sourcing (China & SE Asia preferred)
  • Commodity price tracking & analysis
  • Strong negotiation skills (international vendors)

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute procurement strategy aligned with plant capacity (1.2 GW) and ramp-up roadmap.
  • Build resilient sourcing models for critical materials.
  • Lead long-term commercial strategy for high-value and commodity-linked materials.
  • Establish procurement governance framework and policies.
  • Lead sourcing of silicon wafers, chemicals & gases, packaging materials, spares and MRO.
  • Ensure 99%+ material availability to meet production plans.
  • Identify and onboard domestic & international suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms; monitor KPIs.
  • Conduct supplier audits and risk assessments.
  • Support interface between procurement and suppliers for strong relationships.

We are seeking a strategic and high-impact Senior Manager – Procurement (OPEX) to lead end-to-end operational procurement for 1.2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Gopalpur, Orrisa. This role is accountable for ensuring uninterrupted supply of critical raw materials, consumables, utilities, spares, and services required for continuous high-volume manufacturing. The position requires strong techno-commercial expertise, global sourcing exposure, and leadership capability in a fast-scaling manufacturing environment. The role requires strong exposure to semiconductor/solar procurement and international supplier handling.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement Leadership:
  • Define and execute procurement strategy aligned with plant capacity (1.2 GW) and ramp-up roadmap
  • Build resilient sourcing models for critical materials
  • Lead long-term commercial strategy for high-value and commodity-linked materials
  • Establish procurement governance framework and policies
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management Lead sourcing of:
  • Silicon wafers ( TOPCon preferred)
  • Chemicals & Gases (HF, HNO3, Specialty and Bulk Gases)
  • Develop long-term sourcing strategy aligned to 1.2 GW production targets.
  • Conduct global RFQs and cost benchmarking.
  • Packaging materials
  • Spares and MRO items
  • Ensure 99%+ material availability to meet production plans.
  • Identify and onboard domestic & international suppliers.
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, credit terms, and volume commitments.
  • Monitor supplier KPIs: quality rejection rate, lead time etc.
  • Conduct supplier audits and risk assessments.
  • Assist Senior Management team in ensuring effective relationships with client businesses through maintaining an appropriate interface between procurement and suppliers
Cost Optimization & Budgeting
  • Track global Silicon, Wafers and commodity price trends.
  • Prepare procurement budgets and monthly MIS reports.
  • Discover profitable suppliers and initiate business and organization partnerships
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice procurement vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
  • Drive structured cost reduction programs
  • Develop commodity hedging / index-linked contracting strategies (silver, silicon, aluminum)
  • Benchmark global pricing and supplier competitiveness
  • Optimize inventory norms, safety stock, and payment terms
  • Deliver measurable improvements in cash flow and procurement ROI
Supply Continuity & Risk Management
  • Ensure uninterrupted material supply to meet 1.2 GW capacity.
  • Manage import/export documentation and compliance.
  • Work closely with logistics for international shipments.
  • Develop dual/multi-sourcing strategies for all critical categories
  • Conduct supply risk assessments and mitigation planning
  • Monitor global supply chain disruptions and geopolitical risks
  • Establish business continuity plans for critical materials
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Align with Production Planning for demand forecasting.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC on supplier quality issues.
  • Partner with Finance for payment planning and working capital control.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
Systems, Compliance & Process Excellence
  • Ensure compliance with procurement governance and audit standards
  • Strengthen internal controls and approval workflows
  • Support digitalization and automation initiatives in procurement
