About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Java Developer / Tech Lead with 7-9 years of strong hands-on experience in Java backend development for our client, microservices, system architecture, and production engineering.

The candidate should have experience working as a Tech Lead or in a technical leadership capacity, with the ability to drive technical decisions, contribute to architecture, and still remain hands‑on with development.

Role & Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and development of scalable backend microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
• Own backend services end-to-end - architecture, design, development, deployment, and production support.
• Design and evolve REST APIs for internal teams and external partners.
• Participate in and contribute to system architecture and high-level technical design decisions.
• Design solutions for scalability, reliability, performance, security, and maintainability.
• Work on payment, reconciliation, ledger, transaction, and idempotency-related workflows.
• Work with Kafka/RabbitMQ and handle messaging, ordering, retries, and failure scenarios.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues with strong root‑cause analysis.
• Conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance to developers.
• Collaborate with Product, QA, Business, and client teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
• Identify technical risks, performance bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Mentor team members and contribute to engineering best practices.

Must-Have

• 7-9 years of professional software development experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Proven experience with Microservices and REST API design/development in production.
• Prior experience as a Tech Lead / Technical Lead or equivalent technical leadership role.
• Hands‑on experience contributing to system architecture / solution architecture.
• Strong SQL and database optimization skills.
• Production experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Strong experience debugging and resolving production issues.
• Good understanding of distributed systems, scalability, reliability, and performance.

Good to Have

• Banking / FinTech / BFSI / Payments / Lending domain experience.
• Docker and Kubernetes.
• AWS / Azure / GCP.
• Spring Cloud — Gateway, Config, Service Discovery, Resilience4j.
• Experience with payment gateways, reconciliation systems, ledgers, or transaction processing.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• A hands‑on Tech Lead who can lead technically while continuing to contribute to development.
• Strong experience in backend architecture and designing scalable microservices.
• Has independently owned production systems and complex technical problems.
• Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
• Experience working with cross‑functional and client‑facing teams.
• Candidates who can join within 15 days will be strongly preferred.
• Candidates must be currently based in Chennai or willing to relocate to Chennai.
