Job summary

WalkingTree Technologies invites a Senior Java Developer to join our technology team in Bengaluru/Chennai. You will lead hands-on development, design modules, and deliver scalable, secure lending platform solutions.

Expect collaboration with architects, product, and business teams, ownership of REST APIs and microservices, and deployment in cloud environments using Docker/Kubernetes. Prior AWS/Azure experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• 4.5+ years of software development experience with Java/J2EE.
• Hands-on in Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Experience building REST APIs and working with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Proficient in SQL/NoSQL databases; PostgreSQL preferred; CouchDB nice-to-have.
• Experience with Kafka or similar messaging systems and API Gateways (NGINX).
• Exposure to AWS or Azure and SDLC/Agile practices.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join our Technology team and contribute to building secure, scalable, and high-performance applications for our lending platform.The candidate will be responsible for hands‑on software development, technical design, module ownership, and delivery, while working closely with architects, developers, product and business teams, and other stakeholders.The role requires strong hands‑on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, REST APIs, databases, messaging systems, Docker/Kubernetes, and cloud technologies

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable applications using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, and Microservices.
• Take ownership of assigned modules from requirement analysis and technical design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Work in an Agile/Scrum environment and actively participate in sprint planning, estimation, reviews, retrospectives, and other development activities.
• Collaborate with architects, product managers, business teams, and developers to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
• Design, develop, and integrate RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Work with API gateways such as NGINX and authentication mechanisms including Active Directory (AD).
• Work with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and CouchDB, including database design, query development, and performance optimization.
• Develop and maintain messaging and event‑driven solutions using Kafka or similar messaging platforms.
• Develop and maintain automated unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, Cucumber, or equivalent frameworks.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes for application containerization, deployment, and management.
• Collaborate with DevOps and cloud teams on deployments, troubleshooting, monitoring, and application support across AWS and Azure environments.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding, security, performance, and quality standards.
• Identify technical risks, troubleshoot production issues, and drive problems through to resolution.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior developers.
• Contribute to technical discussions, solution design, architecture decisions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Mandatory Skills

• 4.5+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Java/J2EE.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot and Microservices.
• Good understanding and practical experience with REST APIs.
• Hands‑on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Good knowledge of PostgreSQL; experience with CouchDB is preferred.
• Experience with Kafka or other messaging systems.
• Experience with API Gateways, preferably NGINX.
• Understanding of Active Directory (AD) authentication.
• Experience with JUnit, Mockito, or equivalent testing frameworks.
• Working knowledge of AWS or Azure.
• Strong understanding of Data Structures, Algorithms, Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP), and Design Patterns.
• Good understanding of Agile Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Good to Have

• Basic hands‑on exposure to ReactJS, Angular, or JavaScript.
• Experience with Selenium and Cucumber.
• Experience in financial services, lending, fintech, or BFSI applications.
• Experience working on high‑volume and highly scalable enterprise applications.
• Exposure to CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Experience with application performance optimization and production support.

Educational Qualification

• B.E./B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, or a related engineering discipline.
