Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited is seeking a Senior Engine Architect with 12-15 years of experience in internal combustion engines and subsystems for automotive and commercial vehicle applications.

You will perform technical calculations to finalize engine architecture, utilize Unigraphics/CATIA for surface and solid modelling, and define assembly details with proper tolerancing and drafting. Travel up to ~40% is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduate / PG Engineer (Mechanical or Related Streams).
• 12-15 years of hands-on engine architecture and subsystem design experience.
• Proficient in CAD modules (Unigraphics/CATIA) with surface and solid modelling.
• Knowledge of CAE/CFD related to internal combustion engines.
• Experience with DFMEA, IFMEA, DFM, DFA and DFS processes.
• Ability to plan activity and align with project timelines.
• Willingness to travel ~40% for project needs.

Responsibilities

• Finalise sub-system design meeting all vehicle interface, manufacturing and performance requirements.
• Create and evaluate multiple engine architecture concepts and subsystems.
• Represent engineering concepts using proper tolerancing, annotations and drafting.
• Deliver self/own teams' responsibilities to ensure customer experience.
• Guide teams to leverage processes for learning, development and inclusivity.

Job description

In Depth Knowledge on Internal Combustion Engines and Sub Systems for Automotive and Commercial Vehicle Applications.

Hands on Experience on performing Technical Calculations to finalize engine architecture and sub system definitions.

Demonstrates in depth knowledge of all the system specific CAD modules using UNIGRAPHICS / CATIA with skills in Surface modelling (GSD), Solid modelling and Assembly.

Assembly Design, Functional Tolerancing & Annotations, Drafting) to create effective detailed concepts.

Creates parametric models for complex parts/ sub-assemblies by incorporating the right dimensions.

Generates multiple alternatives of Master sections based on Engine Architecture, benchmarking, strength requirements and other system constraints.

Adequate knowledge in CAE and CFD related to internal combustion engine.

Adequate Knowledge in DFMEA, IFMEA, DFM, DFA and DFS

Defines parameters & creates decision matrix for part/assembly. Analyses and evaluates proposals based on the decision matrix. Recommends proposals for the sub system that meets functional requirements.

Finalises the sub system design meeting all requirements like vehicle interface data, manufacturing requirements, SAM and performance, durability, and Homologation requirement.

Demonstrates understanding of various kinds of manufacturing processes of components being used in IC Engine. Designs Casting, Plastic and Sheet metal components / system level solutions which meets engine structural requirements and overall performance targets set for respective projects.

Ensures manufacturing feasibility in consultation with manufacturing team. Has the knowledge to design the component/system taking care of corrosion resistance, raw material availability, manufacturing techniques etc. Has the knowledge of the various cost driversduring design and can advantageously use that for achieving lower cost

To Focus on sustaining strong relationships and encourages self/ team work well with CFT.

Delivers the responsibility of self /own teams to ensure delightful Customer Experience.

Ensures effective planning to translate ideas into actions of self and team with Agility.

Ensures no overrun of time, cost, quality and other critical parameters as required to remain frugal and meets/exceeds expectations without excuses.

Ensures self and team members deliver superior performance by guiding them to leverage the organisation systems and processes for learning and development, recognition, Inclusiveness, and communication.
