Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Bengaluru is seeking a Senior Lead Engineer (Stress) to support structural analysis for Nacelle products. You will work in a cross-functional team to assess loads, fatigue, and damage-tolerance, delivering robust engineering solutions.

You will apply solid mechanics fundamentals, use HyperMesh/Nastran, and prepare clear stress reports. The role demands strong communication with U.S. teams and a willingness to meet aggressive schedules while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 7–10 years of relevant experience.
• Solid knowledge of composite materials and analysis.
• Strong fundamentals of solid mechanics and machine design.
• Experience with HyperMesh, Nastran/Patran.
• Effective verbal and written communication.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Overview

In this role the Senior Lead Engineer (Stress) will support engineering activities related to structural analysis for Nacelle products

Primary Responsibilities

• Performing structural analysis of Aircraft components and assemblies while working as a part of integrated team.
• Structural analysis includes calculation of loads, Static analysis, Fatigue analysis, Damage-Tolerance analysis, and Vibration analysis.
• Evaluate structural integrity of aircraft components by way of classical hand calculations and, finite element method.
• Draw FBDs based on the structural load paths. Generation of applied loads, interface loads and internal loads distributions, utilizing proper understanding and recognition of structural load paths and structural response to load.
• Prepare informal and formal documentation of strength check notes or revise existing stress report using MS Office products.
• Suggest solutions to resolve any concerns based on the stress Analysis results.
• Support design reviews, technical discussions, and engineering presentations.
• Responsible for schedule and cost for the portion of the project assigned. Responsible for engineering metrics like OTD, FPY, etc.
• Working with Cross functional team and communicating with business units in USA (effective written and verbal communication is required for the purpose of achieving successful job performance).
• Willingness to work in extremely aggressive schedules, while still not neglecting the value of attention to details and subsequently delivering high-quality work to the customers.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's/ Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace Engineering
• 7 to 10 years of relevant experience.
• Good Knowledge of composite Materials and Analysis.
• Sound Mechanical Engineering Fundamentals.
• Proficient in the fundamentals of solid Mechanics and Machine Design.
• Good understanding of structural load paths and structural response to load.
• Hands-on experience in Analysis tools such as Hypermesh or Nastran/Patran.
• Good communication and Interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and develop practical solutions.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft office – Word, Excel and Presentation.
• Knowledge of Aircraft structural part design, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Strong ownership, customer focus, and commitment to delivering quality engineering solutions.
• Experience in productivity tool development using Excel VBA, Python etc. will be added advantage.
