Senior Lead Engineer – Product Support Engineering Stress role at Collins Aerospace. This position is for a Senior Stress Engineering professional with sound knowledge of structural engineering and technical expertise to perform structural analysis and support multiple commercial nacelle programs for Collins Aerostructures in a highly customer focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Apply structural analysis principles and perform stress analysis for Field Issues and Occurrence Events for metallic and composite nacelle structures across programs.
• Work with FE software (Cmd: MSC Patran / Nastran, HyperMesh, etc.) across linear, nonlinear, buckling, and dynamic analyses.
• Analyze complex nacelle structures using classical and FE methods in static and fatigue domains.
• Prepare substantiating analysis documents and coordinate sign-off with key stakeholders.
• Investigate problems and provide solutions meeting certification requirements.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor less experienced engineers.
• Collaborate with customers to strategize enhancements to Structural Repair Manuals across platforms.
• Coordinate with production engineering to assess design changes impact on maintainability, repairability, and maintenance manuals (CMM, SRM, AMM).
• Support complex technical issues with engine manufacturers and airframers, contributing to repairs and damage limits.
• Apply scientific principles to innovate and implement business improvement solutions.
• Comply with US and country-specific export control requirements.
• Report to the Aftermarket Technical Services Manager and support the organization’s vision for aerospace systems leadership.
• Engage with a globally diverse aftermarket team and contribute to customer experience improvements.
• Demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills with clients and customers.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautics with 8–12 years of relevant experience.
• Understanding of load paths, free-body diagrams, and both classical hand analysis and advanced FE used in aerospace structural analysis (Patran/Nastran).
• Knowledge of static and fatigue analyses for metallic and composite aircraft structures.
• Understanding of repairs for metallic/composite structures and common inspection methods and defects.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Patran/Nastran (Sol 101, 106, 111).
• Knowledge of MS Dynamics CRM systems and practices.
• Experience in an Aftermarket customer support engineering organization.
• Knowledge of Nacelle Systems for programs such as B787, A320neo, A220, A350.
• Familiarity with Structural Repair Manual, Component Maintenance Manual, Aircraft Maintenance Manual, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, etc.
• Technical understanding of maintenance, repair, overhaul, and regulatory requirements in commercial aviation.
• Basic knowledge of EASA/FAA requirements and associated repair documentation.
