The Senior Lab Technician will perform advanced laboratory tests, oversee junior staff, and ensure proper functioning of lab equipment and processes. This requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and strict adherence to quality and safety standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests across biochemistry, hematology, microbiology, and serology.
- Supervise and guide junior lab technicians and support staff.
- Ensure accuracy, reliability, and timely reporting of test results.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and analyzers.
- Implement and monitor quality control and quality assurance procedures.
- Review test results and validate reports before release.
- Maintain proper documentation and laboratory records as per SOPs.
- Ensure adherence to infection control, biosafety, and safety protocols.
- Monitor inventory of reagents, chemicals, and consumables.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of samples and reagents.
- Coordinate with doctors and clinical teams for test requirements and clarifications.
- Handle critical values and escalate abnormal findings immediately.
- Participate in internal and external audits and ensure audit readiness.
- Maintain equipment logs and ensure preventive maintenance and calibration.
- Assist in implementation and validation of new tests and technologies.
- Ensure compliance with NABH and regulatory standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of the laboratory.
- Train new staff and support ongoing skill development within the team.
- Ensure proper biomedical waste disposal as per guidelines.
- Monitor turnaround time (TAT) and improve efficiency of lab operations
