Job summary

The Senior Infra Engineer will hold accountability for design, implementation, security, maintenance and support of software-defined infrastructure resources. They will work without supervision and own and direct the tasks of more junior infra engineers, focusing on Platform or Lab level objectives and may manage a subset of their team’s technical products.

Job Description

Tracks budgets and brings variances to the attention of senior colleagues while working within established budgeting systems. Grows own capabilities by pursuing and investing in personal development opportunities and develops the capabilities of direct reports by working within existing development framework; provides specialised training or coaching in area of expertise to others throughout the organisation. Identifies shortcomings, then suggests and implements improvements to existing business practices, while developing and delivering projects or a workstream within the organisation's change management programme with guidance from senior colleagues. Provides input into the development of IT Security policies, develops underlying procedures and monitors their implementation for area of responsibility within the organisation. Delivers prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by working within established knowledge management systems. Delivers outcomes by managing others and working within established systems. Sets short term objectives and helps manage the performance of direct reports by working within performance management systems. Explores issues and/or needs to establish potential causes, related issues and barriers. Analyses and evaluates the feasibility/relevance of proposals for complex products/services, then develops and amends as necessary with guidance from senior colleagues and/or supervises activities performed by a product development/specialist team. Identifies and evaluates complex expertise-led solutions against a range of criteria to find the ones that best meet business needs. Delivers prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by working within established strategic planning systems. Meets changing requirements by developing new testing approaches and strategy for a defined range of products and/or operations.
