Responsibilities

• Vendor development & management: identify, onboard, and manage suppliers and audits.
• Procurement & purchase management: source materials, release PO/WO, ensure approvals, optimize inventory.
• Commercial negotiation & contract management: negotiate pricing, terms, finalize contracts.
• Quality & technical coordination: review drawings/specs, ensure materials meet standards, coordinate with QA/Production.
• Risk management: identify risks, contingency planning, alternative sourcing strategies.

Job description

The Senior Engineer - Purchasing role manages procurement, vendor development, and supply chain coordination to ensure the timely availability of quality materials. Working on site, the position combines commercial negotiation with technical knowledge of manufacturing processes to optimise cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance.

Responsibilities

• Vendor Development & Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard potential suppliers based on organisational requirements

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors and raw material manufacturers

  • Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement initiatives

  • Conduct supplier audits and vendor assessments

  • Schedule and coordinate vendor visits and management reviews

• Procurement & Purchase Management

  • Source raw materials, components, and services according to project and production requirements

  • Prepare and release purchase orders and work orders with detailed terms and conditions

  • Obtain the necessary internal approvals for procurement activities

  • Ensure timely procurement while maintaining optimal inventory levels

  • Prepare techno-commercial comparative statements for supplier evaluation

• Commercial Negotiation & Contract Management

  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, payment terms, and commercial agreements

  • Finalise contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and business objectives

  • Manage supplier agreements and ensure compliance with contractual commitments

• Quality & Technical Coordination

  • Review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality requirements

  • Ensure supplied materials meet engineering and customer standards

  • Coordinate with Quality, Production, Engineering, and Stores teams to resolve supplier-related issues

  • Support supplier quality improvement initiatives

• Risk Management

  • Identify supply chain risks and develop contingency plans

  • Maintain continuity of supply through alternative sourcing strategies

  • Track market trends, commodity pricing, and supplier capabilities

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of procurement and supply chain processes

• Hands-on proficiency with SAP or other enterprise resource planning systems

• Sound knowledge of raw materials and manufacturing processes

• Understanding of sheet metal manufacturing, welding processes, pipe manufacturing, and fabrication processes

• Proven capability in techno-commercial evaluation and cost analysis

• A strong background in vendor development and supplier audits

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
