Job summary

Infineon Technologies AG seeks a Senior Engineer Product Development to merge deep physics knowledge with practical engineering across wafer technology, packaging, and product development. You will drive electrical characterization, support qualification, and collaborate with Marketing and Application teams to meet strategic objectives.

The role demands a strong background in electronics, semiconductor devices, and strong communication in English and German, with hands-on lab experience

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Electronics, Microelectronics, Physics.
• Solid knowledge of semiconductor devices and Wide Band Gap (WBG) technologies.
• Initial experience in the semiconductor industry via work or academia is a plus.
• Basic experience with power device specifications and datasheets, plus understanding of statistical analysis.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German.

Responsibilities

• Apply semiconductor physics to resolve product issues and guide improvements.
• Contribute to product innovation through concept development, demonstrators, and evaluations.
• Collaborate within wafer tech, package, and product development projects.
• Support DOEs to ensure manufacturability and optimize performance.
• Coordinate with Product Marketing and Application Engineering to align with business goals.
• Define electrical characterization activities and interpret results.
• Support qualification, failure analysis, and troubleshooting via electrical/physical analyses (SEM, X-ray, EMMI).
• Assist product evaluation for production transfer across sites.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing within the expert network.

Your role

Key responsibilities in your new role:

• Apply semiconductor physics expertise to resolve product issues and identify improvements for future product and technology releases.
• Contribute to product innovation through concept development, demonstrators, technical evaluations, and feasibility assessments.
• Collaborate as a technical team member in wafer technology, package, and product development projects.
• Support Product Design and Process DOEs to ensure manufacturability and optimize product performance.
• Work closely with Product Marketing and Application Engineering to develop products that support business objectives.
• Define and execute electrical characterization activities, evaluate results, and engage with the expert community on findings.
• Support qualification, failure analysis, and troubleshooting activities through the interpretation of electrical and physical analysis results, including SEM, X-ray, and EMMI.
• Support product evaluation activities for production transfer projects across manufacturing sites.
• Contribute technical expertise to the knowledge community while leveraging the expert network for continuous learning and development.

Your profile

Qualifications and skills to help you succeed:

• Bachelor's or higher degree in Electronics, Microelectronics, Physics, or a related field.
• Solid knowledge of semiconductor devices and power switches, including silicon, SiC, and GaN device physics, with particular emphasis on Wide Band Gap (WBG) technologies.
• Initial experience in the semiconductor industry through work or academic projects is an advantage.
• Basic experience with power device specifications and datasheets, including a good understanding of statistical analysis.
• Demonstrated technical problem-solving capability.
• Laboratory experience, preferably in semiconductor device characterization, is an advantage.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
