Job summary

Evarastaffing is seeking a Senior Engineer - Procurement to lead end-to-end sourcing for data center projects in India. You will manage M&E equipment procurement (HVAC, UPS, DG sets, switchgear, cabling, fire suppression) and liaise with vendors through RFQs/RFPs to ensure alignment with project schedules.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, ERP experience (SAP/Oracle), and excellent stakeholder management to deliver on tight timelines in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems used in data centre or critical infrastructure projects.
• Hands-on procurement experience of capital equipment, MEP materials, or engineered products.
• Familiarity with drawings, BOQs and technical specifications.
• Experience with ERP/procurement systems (SAP/Oracle) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of mechanical and electrical (M&E) equipment and materials for data center construction, including HVAC/CRAC/CRAH, UPS, DG sets, transformers, switchgear, cabling and BMS components.
• Issue RFQs/RFPs/tenders; coordinate with engineering and project teams for technical evaluation.
• Coordinate with design/engineering teams to translate drawings/datasheets into procurement requirements.
• Prepare cost comparison sheets and report to supervisor.
• Track orders, expedite deliveries, and resolve supply bottlenecks to meet timelines.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain vendor performance records.

About The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Engineer - Procurement to support end-to-end sourcing and procurement activities for our Data Center business. The role demands strong technical understanding of mechanical and electrical systems used in data centers (HVAC, DG sets, UPS, switchgear, cabling, cooling systems, fire suppression, etc.) combined with commercial acumen to manage vendors, raise RFPs, prepare bid analysis sheets, and ensure procurement aligns with project schedules.

Role & Responsibilities

• Manage procurement of mechanical and electrical (M&E) equipment and materials for data center construction and fit-out projects, including HVAC/CRAC/CRAH units, UPS systems, DG sets, transformers, switchgear, busbars, cable trays, fire detection & suppression systems, and BMS components.
• Issue RFQs/RFPs/tenders; coordinate with engineering and project teams for technical evaluation.
• Conduct vendor identification, qualification, and empanelment for OEMs, fabricators, and specialized data center equipment suppliers.
• Coordinate with design/engineering teams to understand technical specifications (BOQs, drawings, datasheets) and translate them into procurement requirements.
• Prepare cost comparison sheets and submit to reporting manager.
• Track order status, expedite deliveries, and resolve supply chain bottlenecks to meet project timelines.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, quality standards, and statutory/regulatory requirements.
• Maintain vendor performance records.
• Support cost estimation, budgeting, and value engineering initiatives for M&E packages.
• Coordinate inspections, factory acceptance tests (FATs), and material readiness with quality and site teams.
• Maintain procurement documentation, purchase orders, contracts, and MIS reports for management review.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Design, Project Management, Finance, Quality, and Site Execution) to ensure smooth project delivery.

Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical/electrical systems used in data centre or critical infrastructure projects.
• Hands-on experience in procurement of capital equipment, MEP materials, or engineered products.
• Good understanding of technical specifications, drawings, and BOQs.
• Familiarity with ERP/procurement systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and procurement reporting tools.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work under tight project timelines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

• Understanding of Tier III/IV data center standards (Uptime Institute, TIA-942) is an advantage.
• Experience working with critical infrastructure projects (data centres, semiconductor fabs, or large industrial facilities) is a strong plus.

Education & Experience

• Education: B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering (mandatory).
• Experience: 3-5 years in procurement/sourcing, preferably within data centre, MEP contracting, EPC, real estate/infrastructure, or industrial capital equipment industries.
