What you’ll do:" We are looking for motivated professionals with strong skills in Cost-out development for Low Voltage Switchgear products: Contactor/ Switch Disconnector/ Motor Protection Circuit Breaker/ Push buttons. Success in this position requires the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment, strong motivation for pursuing project objectives and the ability to learn new techniques, Tools, Processes.Candidate should be able to demonstrate following Responsibilities:Work with global stakeholders for project execution through idea generation, design, testing and implementation phaseTechnical ownership of the project.Ensure product compliance to global design standards like IEC,UL,CSA, NEMA or any other compliance standard.Complete system / component sizing, designing , simulation and testing activities to meet Low Voltage Switchgear requirementsModify existing products to support customer, manufacturing, applicable regulatory and industry standard, and market requirement through Change Management process""- Should have worked on Cost-out/ VAVE projects for Contactors, Switch Disconnector, Breakers etc or similar productsExperience in current path design, mechanism design and arc quenching principlesKnowledge of plastic material, their use based on properties and requirement. Should be conversant with GD&T principles and clearance & creepage calculationsDevelops test plans for short circuit, temperature rise,arc path in accordance with IEC/UL standards. Creates test object requirements, plan for assembly and finalize test parameters & instrumentation. Responsible for conducting tests by ensuring deployment of standard practices. Assesses test results, root cause analysis through test findings/failures and takes corrective/preventive actionsSupport Creation of new designs and advanced methodologies to support the Technical Roadmap of the organizationExperience of different manufacturing processes pertaining to contacts and plastic material (Bending, riveting , welding , brazing , injection molding)Knowledge of low voltage switchgear standards in accordance to IEC/UL/CSA/CCC codes which will allow development of test plans.Experience in execution of tests for EN60947 / UL60947 ( Temperature rise , Short circuit , Make/Break, sequence tests etc.)Assess test results, perform root cause analysis through test findings/failures and take corrective/preventive actionsResponsible for design engineering analysis on current path, mechanism, spring, bimetals, housing, actuator circuit , arc chamber, coils etc.Review reliability predictions, conversant with Design Failure Modes and Effects analysis (DFMEA) and read structural/thermal/CFD/MBD resultsModify existing products to support customer, manufacturing, applicable regulatory and industry standard, and market requirement.Participate in multi-discipline concurrent development and corrective action teamsPerform a wide variety of engineering and technical tasks involving the application of engineering knowledge and the development of solutions to complex problems pertaining to products, materials, manufacturing processes, tests, and unique customer applicationsMay provide formal and informal updates to Engineering Manager and Program Manager. Participates in the preparation for design review materialComplete design (2D drawings / 3D Models) in UG-NX or Solid works.Knowledge on PLM systems ( Enovia , SAP) will be desirableShould have an innovation mindset"Qualifications:BE / M.tech - Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering7-10 yrs. Product DesignSkills:"Experience in switchgear industry having worked on NTI/NPI/Sustaining projects for Contactor, Switch Disconnector, Motor Protection Circuit Breaker or similr products. Exp. in VAVE projects will be an advantage.Experience working with cross functional teams within and outside organization to drive design objectives in sustaining productsExperience through all stages of the prodcut development cycleExperience in short circuit, temperature rise, arc test in accordance with IEC/UL standardsHands on experience in product development leveraging DfX methodologyEngineering technical expertise to solve problems and make design recommendationsProficient in CAD and PLM softwaresKnowledge in Agile ProLaunch and PreLaunch processesExperience in product costing and analyzing cost break-up due to various manufacturing processes/ design featuresExperience in test object requirements, plan for assembly and finalize test parameters & instrumentationKnowledge of Electromechanical Systems "Team player, Good communication skills, Ability to work in global and virtual environment
