Job summary

Woolworths Group India in Bangalore is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead design, delivery, and automated improvements of enterprise identity management services. You will drive standards across Linux authentication platforms and implement scalable, highly available solutions.

The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, setting quality standards and guiding the team toward modern, automated architectures in a hosted environment.

Qualifications

• Approximately 10+ years of commercial engineering experience in enterprise-scale environments.
• Code-driven practices using IaC, Configuration as Code, or automation scripting.
• Legacy-to-modern migrations of operational workflows to automated architectures.
• Incident ownership and SRE practices with RCA and permanent fixes.
• Secure engineering practices with patch management and vulnerability remediation.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, delivery, and improvement of hosting services via code and automation.
• Define directory service standards and integration patterns for Linux estates.
• Oversee authentication design: Kerberos, SSSD, PKI, AD cross-realm trust.
• Drive resilience: replication and disaster recovery design for directory services.
• Collaborate in Agile/DevOps setups with product owners and scrum masters.

• Lead the design, automation, security, and resilience of enterprise identity management services, establishing standards and integration patterns across Linux and hybrid identity platforms to deliver secure, scalable, and highly available authentication and access solutions.

About this role

As a senior technical member of a Hosting team, the Senior Engineer leads the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of the team's services — driving the shift toward managing and delivering those services through code and automation. The role combines deep hands‑on engineering with technical leadership, setting standards for quality and helping shape the technical direction of the team's service domain.

What you’ll do

• Deep expertise in enterprise Linux directory architecture (FreeIPA / Red Hat IdM, LDAP) and authentication design.
• Ability to design and own directory standards, integration patterns, and Ansible-based automation as code.
• Strong command of Kerberos, SSSD, PKI/certificate management, and AD cross-realm trust architecture.
• Expertise in identity security, host-based access control, and privileged access for Linux estates.
• Ability to define directory service standards and reference patterns for the team.
• Experience leading directory resilience, replication, and disaster recovery design.

What you’ll bring

• Approximately 10+ years of commercial experience in a dedicated engineering role within complex, enterprise-scale environments.
• Code-Driven Practices: Minimum 10+ years of hands‑on experience utilising code-driven methodologies (such as Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, or automated scripting languages) to manage and scale platforms.
• Legacy to Modern Transitions: Direct experience migrating legacy systems or manual operational workflows over to modern, highly automated, and resilient target-state architectures.
• Incident Ownership & SRE Practice: Demonstrated experience leading root-cause analysis (RCA) investigations and implementing permanent engineering fixes to eliminate systemic operational toil.
• Secure Engineering Practice: Proven experience hardening enterprise environments against cyber threats and a track record of successfully driving rapid patch management or vulnerability remediation campaigns in production environments.
• Squad-Based Delivery: Proven experience working within an Agile framework, Product-operating model, or DevOps squad environment, collaborating daily with Product Owners and Scrum Masters to deliver platform features.
