Job summary

River is seeking an experienced structural design engineer to design chassis and sub systems for two-wheelers in Bengaluru. You will study packaging, serviceability, and cost implications while coordinating with cross-functional teams to resolve design and production issues.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in chassis design, knowledge of PLM platforms (Dassault 3DExperience preferred), and a solid grasp of DFM, DFA, DFS, and GD&T. Experience with sheet metal fabrication and FEA is valuable.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years in structural design for two-wheeler chassis.
• Experience with PLM platforms; Dassault 3DExperience is a plus.
• Understanding of DFM, DFA, and DFS.
• Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, forming and welding.
• Understanding of TQM, Quality in Design.
• Understanding of FEA.
• Knowledge of GD&T and SolidWorks modeling/drafting.
• Vehicle systems knowledge plus parts/assembly parameter awareness.
• Design competition experience (FSAE, BAJA, AERO SAE, SHELL ECO MARATHON, etc.).

Responsibilities

Job description

Key Responsibilities

1. Responsible for designing the chassis and sub systems.
2. Understand vehicle/sub system functional objectives, inter dependencies and study the packaging, serviceability, plant assembly process/ decking and cost implications.
3. Define appropriate system-level engineering targets to meet function, quality and attribute requirements.
4. Prepare Failure Mode Avoidance activities including DFMEA ensuring all relevant documentation
5. Conduct the resolution of design, attribute or packaging incompatibilities through the appropriate cross-functional meetings.
6. Generate and implement VA/VE ideas to reduce the product material cost.
7. Drive root cause investigations for structural, packaging, and manufacturing defects and derive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) using 8D, 5-Why, etc.

Ideal Candidate

1. Overall 3 to 5 years of experience in structural design and has been a part of the development of the chassis or other structural parts for a two wheeler.
2. Relevant knowledge of PLM platforms. Experience with Dassault 3DExperience a plus.
3. Good understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA) and Design for Serviceability(DFS).
4. Well versed with the manufacturing aspects of the sheet metal fabrication, forming and welding.
5. Basic understanding of TQM principles, Quality in Design Philosophy.
6. Basic understanding of FEA analysis.
7. Good knowledge on GD&T and well versed with modelling and drafting of drawings on solid works . This is a must.
8. Understanding of vehicle systems and its dependency on vehicle parts and assembly parameters is a plus.
9. College Design Competition Experience a plus (FSAE, BAJA, AERO SAE, SHELL ECO MARATHON, etc.)
