Job summary

Detroit Engineered Products (DEP) seeks an experienced CAD design engineer with deep CATIA V5 skills, GD&T expertise, and hands-on chassis systems knowledge. You will model, draw, and assemble components for suspension, steering, and brakes, ensuring manufacturability and engineering accuracy.

You will collaborate with D&R engineers worldwide, support NPI milestones, and drive technical decisions across suppliers. Strong time-zone communication and metal forming background are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Proficient in CATIA V5 with GSD, part modelling, drawings and assembly.
• Strong GD&T knowledge and sheetmetal design experience.
• Hands-on with Teamcenter Engineering and Vismockup tools.
• Experience in chassis system design and development (steering, brakes, suspension).
• Ability to drive D&R decisions with suppliers and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop CAD models and drawings for chassis components in Suspension, Brakes and Steering.
• Create GD&T compliant deliverables in CATIA / 3DX.
• Collaborate across time zones with global teams for design reviews and production delivery.
• Work on ground-up design of chassis components ensuring manufacturing feasibility.
• Support New Product Introduction milestones and engineering deliverables.

Role & responsibilities

• Extensive Knowledge in CATIA V5 (GSD, Part Modelling, Drawing, Assembly & Kinematics)
• Expert on Sheetmetal design, engineering operations, Manufacturing processes
• Good Knowledge and hands-on experience of GD&T
• Good Knowledge in Teamcenter Engineering & Vismockup
• Have flexibility to work across time zones as role involves extensive interaction globally
• Expertise in Chassis Systems Design and Development - Steering, Brakes, Suspension, Wheels/Tires
• Responsible for developing CAD models, Drawings & GD&T in CATIA / 3DX, for Chassis components in Suspension, Brakes, Steering
• Functional expertise in design and development of Chassis aggregates and to take technical decisions with D&R Engineers and suppliers as required
• Ability to ground-up design of Chassis components through detailed design and delivery into production, by establishing manufacturing, assembly and service feasibility
• Conversant with New Product Introduction process, program milestones and delivery success criteria for engineering
