Job summary

BSH Household in Chennai site is seeking an Engineer/Senior Engineer to take on production shift incharge responsibilities across safety, production, quality, and manpower management.

The role requires 7–8 years in production/manufacturing engineering with BE or Diploma. You will drive OEE, ensure FPY, coordinate maintenance, and lead a shift team toward meeting daily targets.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe working practices and PPE compliance.
• Achieve the shift production plan as per target and monitor hourly production vs plan.
• Take immediate action on shortages, breakdowns, quality issues, and line stoppages.
• Coordinate with Maintenance for breakdowns and monitor downtime for quick restoration.
• Lead and motivate the shift team, manage absenteeism, and ensure proper training.
• Monitor line efficiency, OEE, cycle time, and productivity; drive Kaizen and continuous improvement.
• Ensure proper control of WIP and finished goods; manage material shortages in advance.
• Promote teamwork, ownership, and discipline across the shop floor.
• Prepare shift performance reports and escalate deviations with action plans.

Job Location: Chennai site

Responsibilities:

1. Safety

• Ensure safe working practices and PPE compliance.
• Conduct shift safety checks and address unsafe conditions immediately (I feel safe and smiley board).
• Report and escalation incidents/near misses.

2. Production & Delivery

• Achieve the shift production plan as per target.
• Monitor hourly production vs plan.
• Take immediate action on shortages, breakdowns, quality issues, and line stoppages.
• Ensure smooth production handover between shifts.

3. Quality

• Ensure FPY and WFR targets are achieved.
• Stop and contain production when major quality abnormalities occur.
• Ensure proper segregation of NG/rejected material.
• Work closely with Quality for root-cause and corrective actions.

4. Manpower Management

• Ensure required manpower is available at every workstation.
• Deploy associates based on skill and production priority.
• Manage absenteeism and manpower shortages.
• Ensure proper utilization of indirect manpower and support functions.

5. Productivity & Efficiency

• Monitor line efficiency, OEE, cycle time, and productivity.
• Identify productivity losses and drive immediate countermeasures.
• Ensure standard work and work instructions are followed.
• Reduce idle time and waiting losses.

6. Material Management

• Ensure Drum and housing availability before and during production.
• Escalate material semi finished material shortages in advance.
• Prevent line stoppage due to Pre produciton issues.
• Ensure proper control of WIP and finished goods.

7. Equipment & Downtime

• Coordinate with Maintenance for breakdowns.
• Monitor downtime and ensure quick restoration.
• Identify repetitive breakdowns and support permanent corrective actions.

8. People & Discipline

• Lead and motivate the shift team.
• Handle shopfloor conflicts and discipline issues.
• Ensure associates are trained and qualified for their stations.
• Promote teamwork, ownership, and continuous improvement.

9. Performance Monitoring

• Conduct regular hourly/shift performance reviews.
• Track SQDCP performance.
• Escalate deviations with clear action plans and ownership.
• Prepare shift performance reports.

10. Continuous Improvement

• Identify losses and improvement opportunities.
• Drive Kaizen, productivity, quality, and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Ensure improvements are sustained through standardization.
