Job summary

Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited in Chennai is seeking a Sr. Engineer in PURCHASE (MOTORS) to ensure on-time sourcing and robust supplier management. The role involves costing of mechanical parts, PO processing, and cross-functional coordination to meet project timelines.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of experience in automotive procurement, strong negotiation skills, and proficiency with ERP/SAP to drive cost reductions and supplier development.

Qualifications

• BE (Mech) is required.
• 5–8 years of experience in procurement/purchasing for automotive components.
• Strong costing knowledge for mechanical parts and BOMs.
• Experience with ERP/SAP processes and supplier management.

Responsibilities

• Identify suppliers for castings, forgings, plastics, and other components.
• Manage RFQ process and new part development.
• Costing of parts to ensure accurate Estimation.
• Process purchase orders and track delivery timelines.
• Drive cost reduction through negotiations and alternate sourcing.
• Monitor material costs and price variation clauses.
• Oversee audits (external & internal) including QMS/EMS.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to meet timelines.
• Support cross-functional projects with on-time parts development.

Location Chennai

Job Purpose:

Responsible and accountable for ensuring on time sourcing, commodity buyer, commodity leads, commercial finalization and Part development as per timelines in close co-ordination with cross functional team

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

1. Supplier Identification for various commodities Castings, Forgings, Plastics

2. RFQ Management

3. Do costing of parts in order to arrive @ accurate level of estimation.

4. Purchase Order Processing

5. New Parts Development for Quicker realization.

6. Contain the project / program material cost at optimum level.

7. Achieve material cost reduction year on year through negotiation, alternate sourcing, VA/VE & localization

8. Track and manage copper & aluminum Price Variation Clause Revisions

9. Keep track of Other commodities (Steel, Plastics & Rubber) for Price Movements

10.To handle global suppliers across all regions

11.Handle audits (external & internal) including QMS & EMS

12.Other duties assigned by management.
