Job summary

Mahindra and Mahindra Limited is seeking a BE/B.Tech seat design engineer with 4-6 years of experience in automotive seating system design and development. You will work on seating system packaging and ensure cost and weight targets while aligning with global standards.

The role requires CAD proficiency (Catia/UG) and Teamcenter, along with knowledge of IS/AIS/ECE/ADR/FMVSS. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality seating solutions.

Qualifications

• BE/B.Tech in a relevant field.
• 4–6 years of experience in automotive seating design & development.
• Experience in packaging seating components.
• Experience in seating sub-systems such as structure, mechanism, foam, plastic, trim.

Responsibilities

• Support seating system delivery by meeting project requirements (cost, weight, performance, timeline).
• Provide technical benchmarking and proof-of-concept readiness.
• Read and interpret seating CAE results and propose action plans.
• Coordinate to meet DVPs (Regulatory, Functional, Durability) and ensure first-time-right.
• Stay updated with upcoming regulations to ensure future-ready seating systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality seating solutions.

Job description

Select how often (in days) to receive an alert:

• Support the team lead to execute the seating system delivery by meeting all the project requirements such as Cost, Weight, Performance & timeline in Passenger Vehicle programs.
• Support with Technical Expertise for appropriate benchmarking, future road map & Proof-of-concept readiness.
• Well versed with seat structural CAE requirements along with ability to read & interpret the results & support the team lead with viable proposals for action plan against failures.
• Co-Ordinate for meeting the seats related DVP (Regulatory, Functional, Durability) & achieving the first time right for each program and proposing mitigation plans.
• Must be aware of upcoming regulations & consider the changes well in advance to ensure future ready seating system for upcoming programs.
• Support the team lead for achieving the best possible FI targets.
• Must work collaboratively with CFT’s like CAE, BSR, NVH, STA, DE, VD, PQ, NovaC, Validation, PVT etc to ensure high Quality product Design in line with the industry best practices to enhance Customer’s Experience.

• Seating System design & development experience including the cost & weight management.
• Technical know-how of IS/AIS, ECE, ADR, FMVSS etc standards for seat related DVP.
• Seating system packaging expertise in both system & vehicle environment.
• Must be Good at CAD tools like Catia/UG & Team centre management.
• Strong knowledge of automotive ecosystem with a desire to learn latest technologies.

Experience

• 4 - 6 years of relevant experience in areas of Automotive Seating System Design & Development.
• Expertise in packaging of seating components.
• In depth experience in any of the seating sub system like Structure /Mechanism /Foam /Plastic /Trim Etc.

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Passion for understanding user experience and idea generation.
• Technical Know-How of latest seating technologies around the globe & acumen to closely predict the upcoming trends.
