Job summary

Sumanam Engineering Services (P) Ltd invites an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead and deliver electrical design packages for building and infrastructure projects. You will develop layouts and diagrams, perform calculations, and ensure compliance with standards.

The role requires 5–8 years of relevant experience, proficiency in AutoCAD/MEP software, and ability to coordinate with various stakeholders to resolve design issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5–8 years of relevant electrical design experience for building, commercial, residential and infra projects.
• Proficient in AutoCAD, MEP and electrical design/calculation software.

Responsibilities

• Lead and independently execute electrical design activities for building and infrastructure projects.
• Develop electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, schematics, load schedules and design drawings.
• Perform load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit and equipment selection.
• Design and coordinate power distribution, lighting, earthing, lightning protection and related systems.
• Review drawings, calculations, BOQs, specs and technical submissions for accuracy and compliance.
• Coordinate with MEP consultants, architects, structural engineers, contractors and clients to resolve design issues.
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and design teams.
• Participate in site inspections, meetings and troubleshooting during construction.
• Ensure designs comply with project specs, codes, safety and quality standards.
• Manage multiple projects, deliverables and deadlines while maintaining quality.

Job description

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 5–8 years of relevant experience in electrical design for building, commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, MEP, and electrical design/calculation software.
• In-depth knowledge of electrical load calculations, power distribution, lighting design, earthing, lightning protection, and equipment selection.
• Good understanding of LV/MV electrical systems, single-line diagrams, cable sizing, voltage drop, short-circuit calculations, and protection systems.
• Strong knowledge of applicable IS, IEC, NEC and other national/international electrical codes and standards.
• Experience in coordinating electrical designs with MEP, architectural, structural, and other project teams.
• Professional certifications in electrical design, power systems, or energy efficiency will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all designs comply with project specifications, applicable codes, safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Manage multiple projects, deliverables, and deadlines while maintaining design quality.
