Job summary

Iconsengg in Hyderabad, Telangana, seeks an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to develop and review LV/MV/HV electrical system deliverables, and to guide 3D modeling and 2D drafting with AutoCAD and MicroStation.

The role requires hands-on use of ETAP, Dialux, SP3D and E3D for design and analysis, along with strong coordination with other disciplines to ensure code-compliant, efficient power and lighting layouts.

Qualifications

• Expertise in designing electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, control systems, and equipment specifications, while adhering to industry standards and codes.
• Knowledge of energy-efficient design principles, renewable energy technologies, and sustainability practices to optimize energy usage and reduce environmental impact.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments, implement safety measures, and ensure compliance with electrical safety standards, regulations, and codes.
• Strong communication skills to interact with clients, contractors, and stakeholders, as well as collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and vendors.
• Proficient in diagnosing and resolving electrical system issues, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions to improve system performance.
• Familiarity with QEHS standards and regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review engineering design deliverables for LV/MV/HV electrical systems.
• Utilize knowledge and experience in ETAP, Dialux, AutoCAD, SP3D and E3D for design and analysis purposes.
• Prepare and check Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), Load lists and equipment datasheets, Cable schedules & cable sizing calculations, Earthing and lightning protection designs, Electrical equipment layouts (substations, MCC rooms, outdoor switchyards), Lighting calculations and layouts.
• Perform or review electrical calculations/studies including Load flow and Short circuit.
• Motor starting, Relay coordination, Harmonic analysis.
• Use tools such as ETAP, AGI 32, Luxicon for lighting illumination calculations.
• Conduct lighting illumination calculations using AGI 32 and Luxicon, providing guidance on lighting schemes and controls.
• Estimate materials for power, lighting, and earthing systems and prepare material take-off documents.
• Prepare technical specifications for Switchgear (LV/MV), motors, VFDs, transformers, UPS, batteries, DC systems, generators, hazardous‑area electrical equipment, requisitions, data sheets, and technical bid evaluation reports.
• Review vendor documents and provide input as necessary.
• Guide designers in 3D modeling and 2D drafting, ensuring coordination with other engineering disciplines.
• Utilize 2D CAD tools like AutoCAD and MicroStation, along with 3D model review software such as SPR and Navisworks.
• Ensure all design deliverables comply with applicable codes and standards.
• Coordinate effectively with other engineering disciplines for project integration.
• Conduct thorough checking and review of all electrical documents and drawings before release.
• Assist in work planning, progress monitoring, and adherence to scheduled completion of engineering documents.
• Collaborate with the Lead Engineer and contribute to departmental functions as needed.
