Job summary

Design Solutions Inc. (DSI) in India is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer – Electrical to lead electrical design activities for building services and MEP projects. You will coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

The role demands strong expertise in electrical design principles, load calculations, and BIM workflows. You will mentor junior engineers, review drawings, and ensure compliance with international codes and project specs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical design and engineering.
• Strong experience in MEP consultancy/building services projects.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; Revit MEP/BIM experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of electrical systems for building and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review electrical layouts, schematics, single-line diagrams.
• Perform load calculations, cable sizing, voltage-drop calculations, and equipment selection.
• Coordinate power distribution, lighting, emergency power, small power, and earthing systems.
• Develop technical specifications, equipment schedules, BOQs, and other deliverables.
• Review electrical designs and drawings for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Coordinate with HVAC, PHE, Structural, Architectural, and BIM teams to resolve interfaces.
• Participate in design reviews, meetings, and client coordination.
• Ensure compliance with international codes and project specifications.
• Provide mentoring to junior engineers.

The role involves leading electrical design activities, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions for building services and MEP projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering of electrical systems for building and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review electrical layouts, schematics, single-line diagrams, and detailed design drawings.
• Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing, voltage-drop calculations, and equipment selection.
• Design and coordinate power distribution, lighting, emergency power, small power, and earthing systems.
• Develop technical specifications, equipment schedules, BOQs, and other project deliverables.
• Review electrical designs and drawings for accuracy, quality, and compliance.
• Coordinate with HVAC, PHE, Structural, Architectural, and BIM teams to resolve design interfaces and clashes.
• Participate in design reviews, technical meetings, and client/consultant coordination.
• Ensure compliance with applicable international codes, standards, authority requirements, and project specifications.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
• Monitor project deliverables and ensure timely completion in accordance with project requirements.
• Support the resolution of technical queries and design-related issues throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in electrical design and engineering.
• Strong experience in MEP consultancy/building services projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical design principles, calculations, and engineering standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; experience with Revit MEP/BIM is preferred.
• Good understanding of multidisciplinary coordination and BIM workflows.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables and work within project timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with international/UAE/GCC projects.
• Knowledge of electrical design software such as ETAP, DIALux, or equivalent.
• Experience in BIM coordination and clash detection.
• Familiarity with relevant international electrical codes and standards.
