Job summary

Design Solutions Inc. (DSI) is seeking an experienced Principal Design Engineer – PHE to lead plumbing and public health engineering projects.

You will drive concept through detailed design, manage multidisciplinary coordination, and mentor engineers. The role focuses on water supply, drainage, sanitary, stormwater systems, and BIM-enabled project delivery, with emphasis on compliance to international codes, standards, and client requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in PHE/Plumbing design.
• Experience with MEP consultancy and building projects.
• Knowledge of water supply, drainage, sanitation systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP/BIM.

Responsibilities

• Lead PHE design from concept to delivery.

Design Solutions Inc. (DSI) is looking for an experienced Principal Design Engineer – PHE (Plumbing & Public Health Engineering) to provide technical leadership across PHE design and engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in plumbing design, multidisciplinary coordination, project delivery, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead PHE design activities from concept design through detailed design and project delivery.
• Develop and review water supply, drainage, sanitary, stormwater, and plumbing systems.
• Perform and review hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, equipment selection, and system analysis.
• Prepare and review PHE layouts, schematics, riser diagrams, specifications, BOQs, and technical reports.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant international codes, standards, authority requirements, and project specifications.
• Lead multidisciplinary coordination with HVAC, Electrical, Structural, Architectural, and BIM teams.
• Review BIM models, identify design conflicts, and lead clash detection and resolution.
• Conduct technical and design reviews to ensure the accuracy and quality of project deliverables.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers and designers.
• Participate in client and consultant meetings and address technical queries.
• Resolve complex design and coordination issues and provide practical engineering solutions.
• Monitor project deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and timely completion.
• Support project planning, resource allocation, and technical decision-making.
• Contribute to improving PHE design standards, workflows, and engineering processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of relevant experience in PHE/Plumbing design and engineering.
• Strong experience in MEP consultancy and multidisciplinary building projects.
• Extensive knowledge of water supply, drainage, sanitary, stormwater, and plumbing systems.
• Strong understanding of relevant international codes, standards, and design practices.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and experience with Revit MEP/BIM.
• Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary coordination and BIM workflows.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working on large-scale and complex international projects.
• UAE/GCC project experience will be an added advantage.
• Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection.
• Knowledge of PHE design and hydraulic analysis software.
• Experience in client, consultant, and authority coordination.
