Job summary

Barry Wehmiller is seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to design and implement automation solutions for high-speed manufacturing processes. The role covers PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, system design, testing, commissioning and project execution.

The candidate will develop PLCs from scratch, work with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley platforms, and configure HMI/SCADA systems while ensuring safety and reliability across projects. Travel up to 25% is anticipated.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a controls/automation engineer in manufacturing or system integration.
• Hands-on PLC programming from scratch.
• Strong experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs.
• Proficiency with Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000/500, HMI/SCADA.
• Knowledge of UL508A panels, field instrumentation, and electrical control systems.
• Understanding of P&IDs and process flow diagrams.
• Excellent troubleshooting and project coordination skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

We are seeking an experienced Controls Engineer to develop and implement automation solutions for high-speed and automated manufacturing processes. The role involves PLC/HMI/SCADA programming, automation system design, troubleshooting, testing, commissioning, and project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop automation control systems, including project documentation and drawings.
• Develop PLC programs from scratch based on project requirements.
• Program Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLCs using Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, and RSLogix 500.
• Configure and program HMI/SCADA systems including FactoryTalk View SE/ME, Cimplicity, Wonderware, and Ignition.
• Configure PowerFlex drives and program Kinetix motion systems.
• Support Rockwell PLC/SCADA migration and conversion projects.
• Troubleshoot automation systems and coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
• Perform system testing, validation, commissioning and start-up activities.
• Manage project deliverables, schedules, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a controls/automation engineer in industrial manufacturing or system integration.
• Strong hands-on experience in PLC programming from scratch.
• Strong experience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley PLCs is highly preferred.
• Experience with Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000/500, HMI/SCADA, and industrial automation.
• Knowledge of UL508A control panels, field instrumentation, machine safety, and electrical control systems.
• Understanding of P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and engineering documentation.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and project coordination skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
