Job summary

Tata Technologies in India is seeking an Automation & Control Engineer to design, program, test, and commission PLC-based control systems for automotive manufacturing lines. You will work with Siemens, Rockwell, and Mitsubishi platforms, implement OPC UA data models, and ensure safe integration with SCADA and MES interfaces.

You will also validate designs with SIMULATE tools, perform FAT/SAT activities, and provide hands-on on-site support and training to operators in a fast-paced

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in HMI/SCADA programming with FactoryTalk Optix.
  • FactoryTalk overview experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (MODBUS, Profinet, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA).
  • Experience in MES integration and OPC UA configuration.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in PLC, drives, and automation systems.
  • Experience in FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities.
  • Bachelor’s/Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Program, configure, and commission PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi).
  • Develop and maintain PLC logic in multi-vendor environments.
  • Troubleshoot PLC programs, electrical faults and automation failures.
  • Provide onsite technical support and training to plant operators.
  • Configure and commission VFDs and Servo Drives (Siemens, SEW, ABB, Mitsubishi).
  • Integrate robot safety systems (Safe Move, DCS, STO).
  • Perform FAT, SAT, testing, simulation, and commissioning.
  • Handle MES integration, SQL/database connectivity, and performance issues.

Job Description: Automation & Control Engineer
What you’ll do
Key Responsibilities:
  • PLC Programming: Siemens (TIA Portal), Rockwell (Studio 5000) – modular, scalable architecture
  • Advanced Simulation: Factory I/O / Process Simulate / MATLAB-Simulink for logic validation
  • Strong hands‑on in OPC UA (critical requirement) – data modeling, namespace design, secure communication
  • Profinet / Ethernet‑IP / Modbus TCP
  • SCADA/MES Integration:
  • Control System Design:
  • Functional Design Specifications (FDS), IO list validation, cause‑effect matrices
  • Battery Manufacturing Exposure (preferred):
  • Cell assembly, formation, pack assembly lines
  • Program, configure, and commission PLCs (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, Mitsubishi)
  • Must have experience in Ladder Logic and STL coding
  • Develop and maintain PLC logic in multi‑vendor environments
  • Implement and test Siemens Safety PLC systems
  • Integrate robot safety systems (Safe Move, DCS, STO)
  • Experience in Automotive BIW, Powertrain and Conveyor automation
  • Configure and commission VFDs and Servo Drives (Siemens, SEW, ABB, Mitsubishi)
  • Troubleshoot PLC Programs, electrical faults and automation failures
  • Provide onsite technical support and coordinates with Line /OEM builder and training to plant operators
  • Work with industrial communication protocols: ProfNet, Profibus, TCP IP, Ether CAT, Ethernet/IP, CC-Link, IO-Link, OPC UA
  • Configure OPC UA client/server and perform MES tag mapping
  • Troubleshoot PLC programs, electrical faults, and automation failures
  • Perform FAT, SAT, testing, simulation, and commissioning
  • Handle MES integration, SQL/database connectivity, and performance issues
  • Coordinate with vendors, internal teams, and stakeholders
  • Provide onsite technical support and training to operators
Required Skills:
  • Hands‑on experience in HMI Scada Programming. Experience on FactoryTalk Optix, Factory Talk overview
  • Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (MODBUS, Profinet, Ether CAT, Ethernet/IP, OPC UA)
  • Experience in MES integration and OPC UA configuration
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in PLC, drives, and automation systems
  • Experience in FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities
  • Bachelor’s/Diploma in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation Engineering
Good to Have:
  • Experience in Ignition advanced modules (Perspective, Reporting)
  • Exposure to battery manufacturing / process industry
  • Knowledge of robot programming or DCS systems
