Job summary
National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) invites a Senior Associate IMPS, AEPS and NETC Design and Development to join our Product – Technology team in a five-day work-from-office model. You will design and build full-stack solutions powering National digital payments, collaborating with product, QA, and platform teams.
The role requires 3–7 years of experience in Java, Spring Boot, React, and modern microservices, with a focus on secure, scalable, real-time payment workflows across
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Java 8+ and core constructs, plus JVM internals.
- Hands-on with Spring Boot and backend frameworks for microservices.
- Solid frontend skills with React.js, Redux, and TypeScript.
- Experience with Node.js middleware and Kafka for asynchronous processing.
- Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases and Redis caching.
- Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, security practices and API design.
- DevOps basics: Git, Maven/Gradle, and CI/CD concepts.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable RESTful APIs for IMPS, AePS, NETC.
- Build microservices-based architecture and integrate payment systems.
- Ensure frontend-backend integration for real-time workflows.
- Work with Kafka-based asynchronous processing.
- Implement secure authentication and authorization.
- Write tests and participate in code reviews.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies.

This role offers the opportunity to work onreal‑time, high‑volume, secure financial systems that operate at national scale, directly impacting millions of users across India.You will work end‑to‑end on modern full‑stack architectures, collaborating closely with product, QA, and platform teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Design and developscalable RESTful APIsusing Java, Spring Boot, and Hibernate/JPA for IMPS, AePS, and NETC applications
- Build and maintainmicroservices-based architectures, integrating with internal and external payment systems
- Ensure seamlessfrontend–backend integrationfor real-time payment workflows
- Work withevent-driven systems (Kafka)for asynchronous transaction processing
- Implementsecure authentication and authorizationusing OAuth2, JWT, and industry best practices
- Optimize applications forperformance, scalability, reliability, and security
- Writeunit and integration tests, and participate in code reviews to maintain engineering standards
- Actively participate inAgile ceremoniesand collaborate with cross-functional teams
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Strong expertise inJava 8+ and above, including core programming constructs such as streams, collections, multithreading, concurrency, and functional programming, along with a working understanding of JVM internals such as memory model, garbage collection, and class loading
- Hands‑on experience withSpring Boot and backend frameworks, including dependency injection, REST API development, exception handling, and microservices-based application design
- Solid understanding ofmodern frontend development, with React.js, Redux, and TypeScript, including component architecture, hooks, state management, and efficient API integration patterns
- Familiarity withNode.js-based middleware concepts, including event loop behavior, non‑blocking I/O, and lightweight service orchestration
- Experience working withmicroservices and distributed systems, including REST API principles such as idempotency, API versioning, request validation, and error modeling
- Strong knowledge ofevent-driven architecture and messaging systems like Kafka, including topics, partitions, consumer groups, and asynchronous processing patterns
- Experience withSQL and NoSQL databases, including relational modeling, transactions, indexing, as well as NoSQL data modeling for scalability and performance
- Understanding ofcaching strategiesusing Redis or similar systems, including cache‑aside patterns, TTL, and eviction policies
- Knowledge ofauthentication and security mechanisms, including OAuth2, JWT, secure API handling, and input validation
