Job summary

Avighna Group in Mumbai is seeking a senior architect to lead architectural design from concept through detailing and construction documentation. You will coordinate with structural, MEP consultants, and contractors to integrate building components while ensuring compliance with codes and approvals.

The role requires strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and SketchUp, plus proven leadership, client liaison, and mentoring of junior staff.

Job description

Role & responsibilities

• Lead architectural design process from concept / schematic design through detailed design, documentation, and construction stages.
• Prepare detailed architectural drawings, plans, elevations, sections, layouts, and construction documents.
• Coordinate and collaborate with structural, MEP (mechanical/electrical/plumbing), consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders to integrate all building components seamlessly and resolve technical / design coordination issues.
• Review shop drawings, submittals, mock-ups, material specifications; ensure compliance with approved drawings, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Conduct value-engineering, feasibility studies, building-code/regulation checks, and cost estimates (as required) to optimize design, detailing, and construction approaches.
• Manage project schedules, coordinate phases, track deliverables, and ensure timely delivery of architectural documentation and handovers.
• Act as primary point of contact for clients during design and documentation phases; present design proposals, address client feedback, and incorporate changes to meet client objectives without compromising technical or regulatory compliance.
• Mentor and guide junior architects/designers; review their work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to firm standards.
• Stay updated on local building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes to ensure projects adhere to legal requirements and obtain necessary approvals.

Preferred candidate profile

• Excellent proficiency in architectural design software and tools: e.g., AutoCAD, Revit / BIM, SketchUp (or equivalent) for drawings, modelling, documentation.
• Deep knowledge of building codes, construction methods, materials, structural and MEP coordination, and ability to interpret and integrate consultant drawings.
• Strong technical understanding: ability to produce and review drawings from scratch”, resolve design/ structural / detailing issues, ensure buildability, and manage changes during construction.
• Strong project management, coordination, and communication skills ability to coordinate across disciplines (structural, MEP, contractors, consultants), liaise with clients, and manage timelines & deliverables.
• Leadership / mentoring abilities, able to supervise and guide junior architects / design team; ensure quality and consistency of deliverables.
• (Preferred)Experience working on high-end / luxury residential buildings; good aesthetic sense, attention to finishes, detailing and high standards of quality.
