A Rebate Manager is responsible for end to end ownership of rebate operations, ensuring accurate calculation, accrual, validation, and payment of customer and partner rebates while driving governance, scalability, and process excellence. The role provides strategic oversight across rebate programs, leads teams of analysts, and partners with Sales, Finance, Pricing, and Legal to ensure rebate programs are compliant, financially sound, and aligned with business objectives. This role typically aligns to CL8 and acts as a people leader and functional SME, driving operational excellence, stakeholder alignment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience and Education
- 12-15 years of experience in Rebate Management, Sales Operations, Pricing, or Financial Operations, with team handling experience (enhanced from analyst baseline).
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Commerce, Economics, or related field.
- MBA or equivalent (preferred but not mandatory).
Typical Tools/Systems
- Advanced use of MS Excel and reporting tools.
- Rebate / pricing platforms and contract repositories.
- ERP / financial systems for accruals and reconciliation.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Advanced expertise in Excel, data analysis, and reconciliation methodologies.
- Strong understanding of rebate systems, pricing tools, and financial systems.
- Deep knowledge of rebate structures, pricing strategies, accruals, and financial impact (gross to net).
- Strong understanding of sales operations and commercial finance processes.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage stakeholder relationships at senior levels.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and decision making skills.
- High attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee end to end rebate lifecycle across regions/accounts, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Review and approve complex rebate calculations, accruals, and payments.
- Ensure consistent delivery against SLAs and defined KPIs.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of rebate analysts.
- Drive training, knowledge transfer, and capability uplift across the team.
- Ensure backup readiness, workload balancing, and high team productivity.
- Establish and enforce standard operating procedures, controls, and governance frameworks.
- Ensure adherence to SOX, audit, and compliance requirements.
- Drive periodic process reviews to identify risks and control gaps.
- Provide oversight on rebate agreements, structures, and financial impact.
- Review complex contracts and ensure accurate interpretation and implementation.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine rebate design and reduce ambiguity.
- Drive governance over accruals, forecasting, and PL impact of rebates.
- Ensure robust reconciliation processes across systems and reports.
- Oversee resolution of high impact discrepancies and escalations.
- Own executive level reporting dashboards, insights, and governance reviews.
- Provide actionable insights on rebate effectiveness, leakage, and optimization.
- Support leadership reviews (WBR/QBR) with data driven recommendations.
- Act as the primary escalation point for rebate related issues.
- Partner closely with Sales, Finance, Pricing, Legal, and Operations teams.
- Influence decision making on rebate structures and operational improvements.
- Lead initiatives for process simplification, standardization, and automation.
- Drive adoption of tools, systems, and digital solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Support modernization initiatives aligned with business priorities.
