Job summary

Propel Industries seeks a highly experienced Robotic Engineer for its Fabrication department in Coimbatore. The role focuses on programming, operating, and optimizing robotic welding systems to maximize productivity and quality.

The candidate should have extensive experience in MIG/MAG welding, robot programming, and process improvement, with strong analytical and cross-functional collaboration skills to drive OEE and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with industrial robots (Yaskawa, KUKA).
  • Expertise in MIG/MAG welding processes and robot programming.
  • Ability to interpret welding symbols and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Program, operate, and optimize robotic welding systems to achieve maximum productivity.
  • Develop and validate robot programs for new products, process changes, and engineering modifications.
  • Troubleshoot robotic equipment, welding processes, sensors, PLC interfaces, and peripheral automation systems.
  • Minimize downtime by carrying out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of robotic cells.
  • Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Industrial Engineering, and Design teams for smooth implementation of new products and process improvements.
  • Improve robot cycle time, weld quality, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze welding defects and implement corrective and preventive actions in collaboration with the Quality team.
  • Optimize robot parameters, welding consumables, fixtures, and tooling to improve process capability.
  • Ensure proper calibration and validation of robotic equipment to maintain consistent production quality.
  • Prepare and maintain robot programs, work instructions, preventive maintenance records, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, statutory requirements, and company EHS policies while operating robotic systems.

Job description

Position: Robotic Engineer
Department: Fabrication
Experience: 38 Years (Preferably in Heavy Engineering / Automotive / Construction Equipment Manufacturing)

Key Responsibilities
  1. Program, operate, and optimize robotic welding systems to achieve maximum productivity.
  2. Develop and validate robot programs for new products, process changes, and engineering modifications.
  3. Troubleshoot robotic equipment, welding processes, sensors, PLC interfaces, and peripheral automation systems.
  4. Minimize downtime by carrying out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of robotic cells.
  5. Coordinate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Industrial Engineering, and Design teams for smooth implementation of new products and process improvements.

Required Skills
  • Hands-on experience with industrial robots such as Yaskawa, KUKA.
  • Strong knowledge of robotic welding processes (MIG/MAG), robotic programming, and offline programming.
  • Understanding of welding metallurgy, fabrication processes, jigs & fixtures, and GD&T.
  • Experience in root cause analysis, TPM, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and Six Sigma concepts.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and welding symbols.
  • Good analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.

Educational Qualification
  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics.
