Retail Sales Manager – Franchisee Development

At MEE we aim to become the largest brand in the fuel business and are looking for performance‑driven talent to help us launch 4,000 fuel stations across 12 states within the next 18 months.
About the Role
As Retail Sales Manager, you will lead the entire Sales & Operations function for a specified state, implementing retail fuel‑station set‑up, franchisee distribution, and ensuring smooth operation. The position is accountable for achieving sales targets through expansion of the retailer/franchisee network, leading and motivating the network, building volume, and implementing marketing and sales‑promotion strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead day‑to‑day Franchise & Business Development functions and manage New Franchise Assessment/On‑boarding.
- Manage all phases of franchise/retailer development: market planning, site selection, land acquisition contracts, permitting, construction, and grand opening.
- Serve as single point of contact for franchise/retailer development activities in the state, communicating pipeline status to the system.
- Attain planned franchise/retailer development approvals and openings, including accurate forecasting, risk assessment, and project‑management tracking.
- Ensure compliance with MEE Development policies and approval committee requirements.
- Build relationships with franchisees/retailers to support market plans and development results.
- Engage with franchisees, retailers, and internal partners to overcome development barriers.
- Execute assessment and qualification processes for new franchisees entering the MEE system.
- Support targeted franchise/retailer recruiting and diversity & inclusion initiatives.
- Travel 20‑50%+ as required by pipeline priorities.
Education & Experience
- BA/BS in real estate, finance, business, or related field required; MBA preferred.
- Minimum 3‑5 years of market planning, real estate, or development experience with progressive responsibility.
- Experience in franchise, multi‑unit restaurant/retail preferred.
- Proficiency in site selection, trade area analysis, real‑estate contract negotiation, construction management, facilities management, and architecture.
- Strong internal motivation, intellectual curiosity, logical thinking, and customer‑centric focus.
