Job summary

You will refine concepts using CAD software and translate ideas into technical drawings and specifications for manufacturing. The role requires 3–5 years in R&D or design engineering, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and strong knowledge of DFM/ DFA, materials selection, and prototype testing.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years in R&D, product development, or design engineering, preferably within the furniture industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed furniture designs that combine functionality, aesthetics, and ergonomics.
• Create and refine design concepts using CAD software and engineering principles.
• Prepare and review technical drawings, specifications, and schematics for manufacturing and assembly.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality benchmarks.
• Select appropriate materials and components for furniture based on performance, cost, and aesthetic criteria.
• Evaluate and recommend new materials and technologies to enhance product design.
• Oversee the creation of prototypes, conducting tests to validate design functionality, durability, and user comfort.
• Analyse test results and make necessary design modifications to address performance issues.
• Work closely with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible and cost-effective to produce.
• Address any design or production issues that arise during the manufacturing process.
• Manage design projects from concept through production, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and project goals.
• Resolve technical challenges and design issues creatively and efficiently.
• Maintain comprehensive records of design iterations, testing results, and engineering decisions.
• Prepare reports and documentation for design reviews, project updates, and compliance purposes.
• Conduct regular inspections and evaluations of manufactured products to ensure quality and consistency.

Required Skills

• Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Fusion, ZW Cad, Pytha 3d) and other engineering design tools.
• DFM & DFA proficiency is mandatory
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and ergonomics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and project management abilities.
• Experience with prototype development and testing is a plus.
