Job summary

Stanley Lifestyles in Bengaluru is seeking a detail-oriented NPD Engineer to drive new furniture products from concept to production. The role covers material selection, CAD modeling, BOM creation, and CNC programming support to ensure manufacturability, quality, and cost targets.

You will develop 2D drawings and 3D models in AutoCAD and SolidWorks, review input data, map processes, and coordinate with sourcing, production, and QA teams to bring prototypes through pilot runs.

Qualifications

Job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented NPD Engineer for our Jigani Factory to drive the development of new furniture products from concept to production. This Role will handle material selection, component detailing, CAD modeling, BOM creation, and CNC programming support, ensuring manufacturing ability, quality, and cost targets are met.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Design & Development

• Develop new furniture products, materials, and components from concept sketches/renders to production-ready designs
• Create detailed 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models using AutoCAD & SolidWorks
• Study and review input data sets including renders, concept drawings, and SolidWorks files to assess technical feasibility
• Convert design intent into engineered solutions considering joinery, hardware, and manufacturing processes

2. BOM & Documentation

• Prepare accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) for new products with material grades, sizes, quantities, and finishes
• Maintain revision control for drawings, BOMs, and technical documents
• Create Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) for new product manufacturing routes

3. Manufacturing Support

• Develop CNC programs for carpentry materials on panel saws, routers, and nesting machines
• Coordinate with production, sourcing, and QA teams for prototype development and pilot runs
• Identify alternate materials/components for cost optimization and value engineering

4. Stakeholder Communication

• Communicate technical requirements to vendors, suppliers, and cross-functional teams
• Present design concepts, technical reviews, and development status to internal and external stakeholders
• Support negotiation with suppliers on technical specs, tolerances, and manufacturability

Technical Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have:

• CAD Proficiency: AutoCAD, SolidWorks for 2D drafting and 3D modeling of furniture/wood components
• BOM Preparation: Experience creating structured BOMs for multi-component furniture assemblies
• CNC Programming: Hands-on with carpentry materials - nesting, toolpath, G-code for wood/panel processing
• Material Knowledge: Understanding of engineered wood, solid wood, hardware, finishes, upholstery, and metal components used in furniture
• PFD Creation: Ability to map process flow for new product manufacturing

Other Skills:

• Communication & Negotiation: Excellent written and verbal skills to work with design, sourcing, production, and external vendors
• Presentation Skills: Ability to present technical data, design reviews, and project updates clearly
• Software: MS Office, ERP systems for BOM entry. Knowledge of rendering tools is a plus

Education:

• B.E/B.Tech/Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Industrial Design, or Furniture Design

Preferred Experience:

• Prior work with modular furniture, case goods, seating, or custom wood products
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing, DFM/DFA principles
