Job summary

Ascension is seeking a neonatal respiratory therapist for nights in Carmel, IN. You will craft tailored care plans for fragile infants, manage advanced respiratory modalities, and monitor stability to ensure optimal pulmonary function.

You will collaborate with the NICU team, support families with education, and participate in high-risk resuscitation efforts when needed.

Qualifications

• BLS within 1 month of hire; AHA/Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed in Indiana.
• NBRC Registered credential within 12 months of hire.
• Advanced Life Support preferred (AHA/Red Cross accepted).
• Neonatal Resuscitation certification preferred (AAP).
• PALS/ACLS preferred (AHA/Red Cross accepted).

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Develop tailored respiratory care plans for our most fragile neonatal patients, conducting detailed clinical assessments to ensure every infant receives precise, diagnosis-driven support.
• Deliver and monitor advanced neonatal respiratory modalities and specialized equipment, continuously tracking patient stability to maintain optimal pulmonary function and respond swiftly to subtle changes.
• Evaluate and optimize clinical outcomes, medication administration, and treatment protocols to drive continuous improvement and high-quality care across our NICU care team.
• Empower and support parents and families through clear, empathetic education, guiding them through their baby's journey and connecting them with vital community support resources.
• Respond decisively as a core member of the high-risk emergency resuscitation team, delivering swift, life-saving interventions during critical code situations.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Indiana Respiratory Care Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) preferred.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Additional Preferences

• Advanced Specialty Credential: Holding your NBRC Neonatal/Pediatric Specialty (RRT-NPS) certification is highly valued, though not required. We actively support and empower our team members to earn this specialty credential during their time with us.
• Specialized NICU Experience: Prior clinical experience in a Level III or higher Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a strong advantage, though we welcome passionate therapists ready to advance their neonatal care expertise.
• Resuscitation & Transport Readiness: Active NRP certification is ideal for immediate nursery assignment. Having certifications in S.T.A.B.L.E., PALS, or ACLS is a fantastic bonus that reflects your commitment to critical care, though not required.
