Job summary

CMA CGM is seeking a Regional Training Officer (RTO) for Engine/Deck based in Mumbai. You will implement CMA Ships Singapore policies, oversee local training, assess seafarers, and maintain training records under the Local Managing Director.

Ideal candidates hold a 2nd Engineer or Chief Officer certificate, demonstrate independent performance, strong communication, and the ability to lead training initiatives and cadet programs with CMA Ships Singapore requirements.

Qualifications

• Ideally 2nd engineer or Chief Officer Certificate of Competency (RTO Engine).

Responsibilities

• Apply CMA Ships Singapore policies and procedures.
• Monitor training needs including Ship Manager requirements.
• Assess seafarers’ knowledge for Engine or Deck RTOs with CMA Ships Singapore.
• Update seafarers’ training records.
• Analyze CES results and close gaps with action plans.
• Organize local cadet training and coordinate with CMA Ships Singapore.
• Represent CMA CGM to promote activities to local maritime universities.
• Assist in preparing the annual training budget and its application.

Job description

Job Title: Regional Training Officer (RTO) - Engine/ Deck

Reports To: Local Managing Director

Work Location: Mumbai

Key Responsibilities

• To apply all CMA Ships Singapores policies & procedures.
• To constantly monitor the training needs including any additional Ship Managers requirements.
• To assess including conducting interviews Seafarers knowledge for Engine Department (RTO Engine) or Deck Department (RTO Deck) according to the training Policy in conjunction with CMA Ships Singapore.
• To update Seafarers’ training records.
• Analyze CES results and subsequent action plans to close gaps.
• To supervise CMS related to a specific pool as per assignment and followed up with action plan.
• To implement Ship Manager’s Cadet program according to CMA Ships Singapore’s requirements.
• To act as a local cadet training coordinator according to CMA Ships Singapore’s requirements.
• To organize, if required, a local customized professional training and assessments for specific ranks as per needs identified by the Ship Manager together with CMA Ships Singapore.
• To contribute to development of study programs by providing Universities connection with Maritime industry (sources of latest Maritime technology).
• To represent the Company and promote its activities to local Maritime Universities.
• To select the best high- potential cadets’ candidates.
• To act, depending on training matrix and specific competences, as an internal trainer.
• To assist CMA Ships Singapore with preparation of the annual training budget and its application.
• To perform ad hoc tasks as requested by the Local Managing Director or CMA Ships Singapore.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ideally 2nd engineer or Chief Officer Certificate of Competency (RTO Engine)

Experience

• Preferred CMA Ships Singapore Master Mariner’s (RTO Deck) or Chief Engineer Officer / 2nd Engineer Officer (RTO Engine) experience
• Related work experience would be an advantage
