Position - Collections Manager / Head Vehicle Finance

Department - Collections / Recovery

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Collections Manager / Head with strong expertise in Vehicle Finance to lead and manage the collections and recovery function. The role will be responsible for controlling delinquency, improving collection efficiency, reducing overdue and NPA levels, and ensuring timely recovery of outstanding dues.

The candidate should have strong knowledge of Commercial Vehicle, Car, Tractor and other Vehicle Finance collections, along with excellent field team management and recovery skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end collections and recovery operations for the vehicle finance portfolio.
• Develop and implement effective strategies for current, overdue, bucket-wise and NPA collections.
• Monitor collection performance, DPD, bounce, overdue, roll-forward and recovery ratios.
• Drive timely collection of EMIs and reduce portfolio delinquency.
• Lead and manage Collection Managers, Collection Officers, Field Executives and agency partners.
• Set collection targets and ensure achievement of monthly and quarterly recovery targets.
• Monitor branch-wise and employee-wise collection performance and take corrective actions wherever required.
• Handle high-value, chronic delinquent and difficult-to-collect accounts.
• Drive field visits, customer follow-ups, settlements and recovery actions.
• Coordinate with Legal, Credit, Operations, Sales and Business teams for resolution of delinquent accounts.
• Manage and monitor repossession, auction and vehicle recovery processes as per company policy and applicable regulations.
• Ensure proper documentation and compliance throughout the collection and recovery process.
• Develop and monitor collection agencies and external recovery partners.
• Analyse collection MIS and portfolio data to identify problem areas and improve recovery performance.
• Conduct regular reviews with branch and regional teams and provide guidance on collection strategy.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, collection processes and fair customer treatment practices.
• Prepare and present regular collection performance reports to senior management.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Strong experience in Vehicle Finance Collections / Recovery.
• Good understanding of DPD, collection buckets, NPA, roll-forward, bounce and recovery metrics.
• Strong field collection and negotiation skills.
• Excellent team leadership and people-management abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle pressure and achieve challenging recovery targets.
• Good knowledge of vehicle repossession and recovery processes.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and Collection MIS.

Qualification

Experience

• 8-15 years of experience in Collections / Recovery, preferably with an NBFC, Bank or Vehicle Finance company.
• Candidates with strong experience in Commercial Vehicle / Car / Tractor Finance collections will be preferred.
• Experience managing multi-branch or regional collection teams will be an advantage.
