The Radiology Technician – MRI is responsible for operating MRI equipment, preparing and screening patients, conducting MRI examinations, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high-quality diagnostic images.

  • Operate MRI equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Verify patient identity, examination details, and clinical instructions.
  • Explain MRI procedures and provide appropriate preparation instructions.
  • Conduct comprehensive MRI safety screening before entering the MRI environment.
  • Identify contraindications such as certain implants, metallic objects, or other safety risks.
  • Position patients correctly for different MRI examinations.
  • Select appropriate MRI protocols and sequences as instructed by the radiologist.
  • Acquire high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing motion artifacts.
  • Monitor patients throughout the examination.
  • Maintain communication with patients during scanning and respond promptly to discomfort or emergencies.
  • Assist with contrast-enhanced MRI examinations according to authorized protocols.
  • Monitor patients for possible reactions following contrast administration.
  • Maintain MRI safety zones and strictly control access to the scanning area.
  • Ensure that metallic objects and unsafe equipment do not enter restricted MRI areas.
  • Operate PACS/RIS systems for image storage and transfer.
  • Review images for technical quality before submission to the radiologist.
  • Maintain accurate patient and examination records.
  • Perform routine equipment and safety checks.
  • Report equipment problems or technical abnormalities immediately.
  • Follow infection-control procedures and maintain cleanliness of the MRI unit.
  • Coordinate with radiologists, nurses, physicians, and other hospital departments.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professional standards.
  • Participate in MRI safety training, quality assurance, and departmental audits.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Radiologist or Radiology Manager.
