Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Technical Writer to produce high-quality documentation for Automation & Communication products within the Grid Automation unit. Based in Bangalore, you will collaborate with SMEs, product managers, engineers, and QA to deliver clear, accurate documentation and maintain consistency across deliverables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or a related field.
• 3–8 years of proven experience as a Technical Writer in energy, automation, or software sectors.
• Excellent written and verbal English with strong grammar and vocabulary.
• Ability to create clear, user-friendly documentation for diverse audiences.
• Experience with Oxygen XML or similar tools; familiarity with DITA XML and Tridion Docs is desirable.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering or power systems is advantageous.

Technical Writer

As a Technical Writer, you will create clear, concise, and comprehensive high-quality technical documentation for various products of Automation & Communication Product group within Grid Automation Business Unit of Hitachi Energy.

Based in Bangalore, you will join the User Documentation team and collaborate closely with subject matter experts, product managers, engineers, and quality assurance teams.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with SMEs, product managers, engineers, and QA teams to gather information and translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable content.
• Conduct thorough research and analysis to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of all documentation.
• Adhere to established documentation standards, style guides, and terminology to maintain consistent brand voice and quality across deliverables.
• Review and edit documentation for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and adherence to technical specifications.
• Handle translation coordination activities for various languages such as German, French, Spanish, Czech, Japanese, and others.
• Create and edit images in Visio and Snagit editor.
• Enthusiastically learn AI tools (GPT, Copilot, etc.) for authoring and review.
• Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Continuously seek opportunities to improve documentation processes, tools, and content quality.
• Participate and identify areas for documentation improvement.
• Utilize various authoring tools, content management systems, and version control software effectively.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in creating clear, concise, and user-friendly technical documentation for diverse audiences.
• Experience with documentation tools such as Oxygen XML or similar.
• Familiarity with DITA XML, preferably Tridion Docs or similar, structured authoring, and component content management systems is highly desirable.
• Ability to understand and interpret complex technical concepts and specifications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies is a plus.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering and power systems is a significant advantage.
